Klenti Kaci - play faster

I’m playing at my speed no matter what anyone’s opinion is. I don’t care how long you take when your up there. Thankfully I’m mentally strong enough that it doesn’t effect me but if I notice very slow play bothers you trust me... I’m going to sllllllooooowwsw it down lol

I'd call the TD to tell you to speed up.

well then don't be surprised if you are playing a set for some kind of cash that your opponent says all bets are off once that's spotted.

or simply tell you he in turn will play slowly and take one shot a year.

or just sit in the chair for an hour at a time. see if you life is getting better for this.
be a creep get treated as one. long term you end up losing out.

I don't like the fact that he apparently thinks it's funny that the tournament director told him he plays too slow.

As someone who plays a pretty slow game of bar table 8 ball I've been apologetic in the past when I just couldn't figure out the pattern. Here we are talking about 9 ball! There's no good reason to ever play this slow. It is unwatchable for me and that's saying something.

I think maybe you misunderstood his post. He said the ref at his match said not to play slow before the match. This is 1000% unprofessional and essentially sharking. I've seen it happen in person. Ref is tired, doesn't give a crap about the matches, wants to go home...tells people not to take all day. He is out of line. If the match is going slowly, the ref informs the players they will be going on a shot clock. You don't shark people before a match (or ever). Utterly ridiculous. I don't think Klenti was pointing out any humor...he was pointing out disrespect and unprofessionalism. And rightly so.

I find it pretty amazing how some of the posters have actually dwelled inside Kaci's brain and life. Very very impressive and something I'd love to hear more about. The science of it, etc.

NO ONE knows what it is like to be him or anyone else. The pinnacle of foolish is to say things like "there is no reason for him to take that long". No, what you meant to say is "I can't think of a reason why I would take that long". Regardless, he's not you. He plays good. You don't. If I'm wrong about that, please post how you were able to make it to the top 4 of the worlds most prestigious tournaments playing very fast. I don't care about examples of other people that play fast. They are not the ones making the foolish comments.

Seriously, can't get over this thread...

Klenti couldn't agree with this post more ;)

Slightly off-topic ;) but I see his name spelled a lot with an upper-case cedilla. Shouldn't it be Kaçi? That's how it is on his faceplant page.

If it's his own Facebook page, maybe we should go with that, eh? I think I initially used the capital form after seeing it spelled that way in one of his events. But I may have used it in two or three different forms since then.

Any Albanian language experts here?

when you run a tournament you want to have it grow and make money as well as make all the participants happy. any time you have someone that doesnt fit the mold its time to ask him to change or bar him. simple as that.

if a customer was slowing down or disrupting the tournament for some reason he would be thrown out.

Klenti

I agree with KMRUNOUT. To suggest it hurts his play when he is top 10 in the world at 18 during his break out season doesn't follow any logical reasoning, it just shows that one is starting with the premise that faster play always equates to improved performance. But that would mean that if he free wheeled he would win every tournament and be ranked number one? I'd have to see that to believe it. It looks like what he is doing is working optimally for him.

As for tournament play, Klenti isn't slowing down the tournament. Multiple inning games filled with errors and evolving into repeated safety battles several times per rack that slow down as they approach a hill-hill score slow down tournaments. A man that runs out every time and blows his opponents out of the water set after set is keeping things moving.

Bottom line it is working for him, and he's there for him and not for anyone else. If the rules change then he will adapt, until they do hate the rules not the player that's using the resources he has available to seize his place at the top of the pool world.

Taking 5 minutes to run 8 wide open balls is the exact definition of slowing down the tournament.

:p
thats the exact point of the matter. no one wants to watch.

I want to watch. I like excellent pool, which this kid is playing. I do not care of the pace of play, within reason, and this kid is also well within reason for me.

I refuse to believe that pace of play, especially when the result of said "slow play" is superior pool, is to blame for the masses not taking to pool. I'm not sure the average joe would really notice the difference between a match with a thirty second shot clock or a forty five second shot clock. The only way to ever get mass appeal is through the gambling aspect, and that has already shown itself to be a dicey gambit. Average people have no stake in who wins the WPC or the US Open or any other tournament. You and I do because we are the small few who are obsessed with this game enough to get our panties in a bunch over the smallest of details. For whatever reason we pick a horse and watch him run. We are certainly the minority. Get used to it. So I will take solace in the fact that at least for now the game is free from the constrains of commercialism and enjoy quality pool in whatever manner the shooter chooses to execute it.

I imagine that if and when this game takes off, we will all be contemplating what led to the downfall of "real" pool.:p

The point is, he doesn't play well because of his slow play.*

His pace of play seems to be working for him quite well. How the hell would you know how he would play if he played faster? You really think the end result is not a sum of the parts that lead to it, but instead happens in spite of these parts? This thread really is ridiculous. I can't do what you do, but your doing it wrong. How is that even logical?

Kaci plays too slowly right now, but I'm optimistic. Two players that were renowned for slow play in the decade of 2000-10 were Souquet and Archer, but both, when called on to do so, learned how to play well in events having a shot clock, and each won many titles in events using a shot clock on the stream/TV table.

At the US Open 9-ball, Kaci had to play the final with a shot clock and he got crushed, but I'm guessing that, like Archer and Souquet before him, Kaci will figure out how to play his best when the shot clock is in use. If not, he'll have a hard time winning events like the US Open, the World Pool Masters, the World Cup of Pool and the US Open 9-ball.

I feel strongly that Kaci will figure it out.

Common sense.

To be fair to Kaci, he really didn't have many opportunities in the finals.

I don't believe the shot clock was a factor.

Nice to read some rationality for a change. Good post sir. Oh and um...I hear you play pretty well. Wonder if there is any correlation there haha.

I can't decide which sounds more absurd:

Klenti doesn't play well, or that you have the slightest clue why.

KMRUNOUT

Did I say he doesn't play well?

No.

I said him playing slow is not the reason he plays well. Therefore, he could play a little faster, and still play as well he does.

He's an excellent player.

But it's not because he's a slow player.
