Derby City Classic One Pocket

Wow Bustamante is really playing. He just beat Bergman 3-0 after beating Josh Roberts 3-0. I didn't see the Roberts match, but in the match against Bergman Busty didn't make a single mistake and executed every shot perfectly. Bergman really didn't play bad just never had a chance.

T-Rex knocked Dennis out. Warren gave Billy his 2nd loss.

Down to Busty, Bergman, T-rex, Jeff Deluna, Warren, and Shannon Daulton(without a loss)

How did Corey do in one hole?
...contender for MOT?

Yes, Deuel is certainly a contender. He has a 1st place (120 pts.) and a 19th/29th place (16 pts.) for a total of 136 pts. That's in the lead among everyone who has been knocked out of 1-Pocket.

But there are 6 guys left in 1P. Bustamante would take the lead with either a 1st or 2nd in 1P. Bergman, Chohan, Daulton, or Kiamco could take the lead with a win in 1P if Bustie finishes 3rd or lower. De Luna cannot overtake Deuel. So if De Luna wins 1P, and Bergman or Chohan or Daulton or Kiamco finishes 2nd, and Bustie finishes 3rd or worse, Deuel will retain the lead.

[that's all a maybe -- it's unchecked and unofficial arithmetic]

who is he?
I saw his name come up as the next great Filipino player.

Could you guys give us a brief description or bio of this player?

Dean, he's 47 years old and has been a good player for 25 years! He's been playing over here for over 20 years...and winning! He won the 9-Ball in 2015 at DCC.

Kiamco has been around forever. Somehow he gets overlooked by pool fans, but he always seems to be playing well. He won the derby city classic 9 ball division in 2015.

Thanks for the correction. Sometimes I get Dennis' and Warren's results mixed up. Definitely surprised right now by how well Warren is doing in the One Pocket.

Agreed with whats been said about him. He's been around for a long time and is probably the least talked about of the older generation of players from the Philippines. I don't think he's won a US open or World title, but he is always a top finisher in those fields.

Here's a link for his money finishes off the main site: http://www.azbilliards.com/people/1002-warren-kiamco/

Additionally, he has more of a compact stroke and is less flashy with his position from what I have seen. To me he gets so much movement from the cue ball with so little cueing and always seems to float the cue ball into perfect position. Great player and always threat.

If they could have kept playing 1 pocket rounds last night Busty probably would have won the tournament. He was absolutely on fire. Those are some tough competitors left (the cream always rises at the Derby even with the unusual format), but I like Busty's chances.

DeLuna is playing fireball one pocket. Busty is playing simply off the hook one pocket.

We all expect a bunch of Pinoys at the end of the One Pocket tournament, but who would have expected The Warrior and The Bull to be the last two ?

Heading home.

Freddie <~~~ will miss the finals for first time in a decade
