Kaci vs Aranas

Yeah, Kaci is still stuck studying a shot due to his OCD.
Real good player but annoying to watch.
A shot clock should be mandatory when he plays.

Kaci

Wow. What a beast.

I voted Kaci on that poll that disappeared but couldn't get a bet down because the forum crashed. Thanks server, that would've been my first winner in a long time.

I posted this before but I feel fortunate to have played Kaci first round at last year's US Open. He smoked me 11-5 and I felt bad until after I saw the tear he went on. After watching a couple of more matches I started betting on him every match. Didn't matter who he played. I did ok.

Talk about a strong year. At the age of 18 he came from nowhere and has won and finished deep in enough majors to make me a believer.

His style of play is absolutely suffocating. I understand it's not everyone's favorite style, but I'm all about quality of execution and results. And the results are that I watched him in person play three races to 11 in a row against elite competition and not make one blunder. Sure, he'd kick and leave a shot, dry break, fail to pocket a jump, or miss the occasional low percentage shot that he was forced to gamble on. But almost never for the entire tournament did I ever think to myself "whoops, that was a fumble". The guy took everything his opponents gave him and gave nothing back. And he broke well and ran a lot of racks off his serve, which is equally critical.

It's not flashy. It's kind of boring, the same way Mosconi was when he ran 100 balls. It looks so textbook it doesn't keep your attention. More fun to watch people leaving themselves hard shots, forcing the cue ball around the table, and showing emotion. I get it. But man, in my life I've never seen rotation played technically any better than what I've seen this young man do. I don't believe pool can be 'solved', but this kid is about as close at I've seen.

I watched the set and can't say I found his play terribly slow.

That is one bad dude right there.

dodong is not ready for Kaci as of this time.

That is crazy...they looked pretty evenly matched, to me.

There was an issue with the balls and a mid-match swapping of sets. It seemed to bother James and as an un-involved spectator, I think the argument could be made that James never recovered from the swap.

What does that have to do with his boring slow style?

The viewing pleasure of spectators does just about zero for his bottom line...

So, I don't think people should be telling him how to do his job, and I definitely don't think he should care what people think about his style.

He should care about making people want to pay to see him play.
He should care about being an exciting player so he attracts sponsors.
This is why pool is dead game as far as T.V. coverage is concerned.
I would drive 100 miles to watch Earl play. Hes entertaining and plays great.
i wouldn't do that for Kaci.

I watch videos of the final match in major tournaments and most of the time there are 20 old guys watching.
Very sad.

Very sad.

If he starts playing like Luc Salvas and makes $2500 a year in winnings, who's going to pay his bills while he waits for pool to become something it'll never be?

Did Earl's pay-off ever come?

Agreeeeeeed indeeeeeed.

I am not really sure those guys have any idea what a dollar is, anywy...ftr.

Hopefully, young Kaci will speed up as he learns to trust himself....
...but he just might be our equivalent of Mayweather...many do not like his boxing style..
...hit and run, duck and dodge...but he just might be the best ever in his weight class.

One of our HOFs, Frank Taberski, was a bit slow also...
...but nobody could beat him for 10 years.

Here’s a short video of Frank...you’ll have to put up with the mouthiest pool player I ever
saw for the first half..

Very cool video. I've never seen it before. First I've ever seen of Taberski. Jimmy Caras was also adept at playing Chinese Billiards. We called it Chop Sticks Pool way back when. Never heard of Ruby Roberts. Ruth McGinnis was the women's world champion in that era though. That is a man shooting most of those shots, not a woman.

Word is Kaci is playing a big money match with Lee Van Corteza in a few week in NYC.

Who do you guys like The Albanian Assassin or The Black Tiger ?

Keith saw part of the Kaci v. Aranas match, and he did not think Klenti played slow. He thought Klenti had an edge because his break was more powerful than James.

Keith kept calling him "Keltee" all night. OMG! How embarrassing!

And Klenti is definitely easy on the eyes for the ladies. We like it slow! :grin-square::o:wink::eek::)

It's about time the ladies had someone to watch play pool. Men talk about Jeanette Lee and Jennifer Baretta. Well, now the ladies have Klenti Kaci. :grin-loving:
