Elkpro vs triangle vs milkdud

Soft...medium...hard. In that order.

I kinda like the good ol' Triangle tips. Played a lot of good pool with 'em and still have some on several of my cues.

First one is blue and soft, next one is brown and hard. Last one used to be be blue and soft, now its blue and not as soft.:thumbup:

Hope this helps!

Elkpros are green they are a harder tip. Not same as elkmaster the old school soft tip

From the two I tried I put them right there with a triangle I really like them

Triangles are a pressed tip they hold shape well and they don't mushroom. I have one
on one of my shafts First one I have ever used and I like it, good tip for the price

Yeah, $0.50 beats the hell out of $15-$20 for what you might pay for some of the "premium" layered tips.

The $.85 Triangle plays as good as any tip out there. It lasts. It performs. Miscues are rare.

They can and do mushroom tho not much if they weren’t prepressed....mostly due to installer, I’ve seen guys screw them up by using dull cutting tools and literally “fluffs” the fibers of the tip

Yes Duds are elks originally tho some have referred to any soft tips treated with unicorn piss milkduds as well....but elks and milk alchemy is where it started lol

Elks, duds, triangle softest to hardest.

Imop duds are triangles with a more feminine side lol....dem tip be swinging both way mon!

The #15 and 20 dollar tips are a rip off. But as long as you keep buyen em, they'll keep sellin em and laugh all the way to the bank.

Seems like the elkpros are still pretty unknown will snap some pics of them in lol bit when I take a break from slinging board into shelves

I’m not a fan either and am a maker and do repair of course....some like that Kamui black med, renfros stuff the kitechs play freaking great.....def no necessity, total luxury...I have no complaints about those ther for money well spent.

I’m plenty frugal but I’ll always pay top dollar for something shows me it performs at a high end rate to match.

I know this answer will get lost in the shuffle, but the OP asked about three specific tips, the first one being Elkpro (sic).

Elk Pros seem to also be made by the Tweeten Fibre Co. using a relatively new setup using automated and maybe (hopefully) monitored compression force. Unlike the Elkmaster (which the OP didnt ask about), thr Elk Pro is individually compressed rather than done in one big batch.

With this automation setup, Elk Pros are offered in soft, medium, and hard. They look to be Blur Chromium tanned leather and post-tumbled in Masters Blue like Elk Masters.

For anyone interested, the automation that you see in this video (this is specifcally for Elk Master) is basically what I do for a living (albeit in a much different industry than leather tips).

They seem to come in three hardnesses, and I’ve only seen the blue soft. Is it possible that they’re tumbled in Green Masters for the hard ones?

Hmmm, seems the "Elk-Pro"'s are a Euro snooker thing, don't see them on Tweeten's
site.. all eBay results are for UK sellers. I'm a Tad tip guy but I'm interested to find out about those.

I ran across an Elkpro recently as one of the regulars in my room, whom is a snooker player, provided one and asked me to install it on his snooker cue.

Opposed to your regular Elkmasters, the tip was green, somewhat pre-pressed and lacked the chalk-tumbled exterior. When I glued it on and stared to cut it, however, it reminded me very much like shaping most Elkmasters; i.e., it's not the most fun experience out there. Inside it was fibrous and irregular like most Elks are.

Elkpros are sold as "select" and "professional" Elkmasters in a box of 3 for somewhere between $40-50 per box. In my limited experience I don't think they are worth the price. I may have just gotten a bad one.

At that price, one could buy a box of 50 regular Elks for >$20 and weed out the bad ones - I'm sure you'll find more than 3 keepers per box.

Or better yet, just grab yourself some milkduds from Jeff (pooldawg8) on here. They're the best iteration of Elmasters I've ever used.
