The International 9-Ball Open

Mika is the absolute worst. He seems genuinely convinced that the pool gods (and everybody else, for that matter) are out to get him. Whenever something doesn't go his way (and it's usually his own doing) he starts shaking his head, his hands, pouting... almost never giving credit where credit's due. Mika is the absolute worst.
... which makes the Famous Melling Runout even more impressive. Mika even tapped out of respect.

I'm surprised Allen Hopkins would enter such a tournament. Entry isn't free any more, right? This isn't the "US Open"- so past winners don't get free entry I would imagine.

I'm pretty sure I read that they are given free entry, because I remember wondering why.

I think because when Pat announced this tournament, the Berhman family was A-wall, and we all thought the "major" tournament in the USA would die.

Hopkins probably won't show up anyway.

......................................Where can one find the rules of play?

Da rules: http://www.accu-stats.com/USIO9Brules.pdf Griffs is a nice room but not much room to watch an event of this size. Awesome place to play though.

So they have ''area'' refs. Are they going to rack for all the tables in their area or?

No Smoking....who's going to enforce the rule when a player does go for a smoke break. What's the penalty?

Who's gonna follow the players out of the room to make sure?

Silly rule.

You might ask them: acc-stats@accu-stats.com I think the whole tourn. area and lobby is non-smoking.

$ 1000 entry
$ 50,000 added
$ 40,000 to win
Pays as much as $ 2300 out to 32.

Good stuff. I tip my hat to the organizers and sponsors. :cool:

Would love to see professional billiards get to the point that a tournament like this is an every week affair.

Too far away for me to attend... but I'll support it. Definitely will get in on a day or two of the ppv stream.

Please note: 32nd place pays $2500, not $2300.

That is correct. It's almost impossible to take a smoking break in less than five minutes.

If it's the same location as last years US Open, your wrong. Down the stairs, to the patio by the restaurant, its along the river. Oui was there at least one time. Now I know why he was looking around kinda/impatient. Yeah you can to it, with about 2.5 min to smoke.
