Mosconi Cup week 2018

Skyler played his best Cup

SVB played his best Cup

Styer was awesome

Safety play was much better

Speed play was great too

Awesome job!

Did anybody else notice the eerie similarity between SVB's combo and the combo Earl made to win the million dollars? WOW

poor kazakis. but even if i rooted for europe i think the most memorable moment in this cup was shanes winning face in day 1

shot of the cup was probably styers break up or skys kick carom nine

I wanna hear ALL those people talking about how stupid these training camps by johann was...looks to me like some things needed changing and look what else changed...the RESULTS!! Do i think tyler plays as good as bergman? Of course not! But he put in the required practice and "boot" camps and it payed off!!! Great job USA and i think everybody played good ,especially sky and shane! Tyler is definately the surprise of the cup,and i HOPE bergman is inspired to participate next year because everyone knows he is one of our top 3 players... I don,t think ANYONE saw this coming, but we needed it badly,it makes our players know we can compete with these guys again and i think it will light a fire under more of our top players(bergman, oscar, josh ,etc...) to want to be a part of this going forward. I predict some headaches coming tomorrow morning lol! Especially with that room temp european beer!

Nerves...it’s undertandable!

Congrats Team USA you were the better team and deserved it.

Also for all those who claim this is just an exhibition, look at SVB’s emotion when winning, look at Kazakis in tears.

It matters.

Absolutely right...and if it DOESNT matter, you should not be playing!

A very, very, very deserved win to the usa. Congrats to the usa team!!! And to have Shane deliver the winning 9ball combo... What a climax. He deserved that, he really did. Fabulous 4 days!!!

Congrats to the usa!!!

Shane said this was the most pressure he's ever felt in his life. I believe him!

Said he "guessed the combo". What a winning shot.

And how could you not feel bad for Kazakis. Tears streaming down his face he said "I'm sorry, I failed to win....but I will come back stronger."

The MC stage aka The Pressure Cooker.

Glad the monkey is finally off our backs.

Congrats Team USA.

And HUGE respect to Team Europe who seriously started to scare me and I'm sure, a few others.

best,
brian kc

Those would be the same people who don't believe in doing drills to get better.

THUMBS DOWN to the EUROS who did NOT step in to back up their player when he was taking full responsibility for the loss during the interview. Shame shame shame.

Kazakis didn't do so bad. Other than dogging the 4 ball, the other shots were horrible long range, high difficulty shots.

Being the last to lose, is 100% no different than being the first to lose. Every EU player who lost a match is equally as responsible.

I could argue for the opposite, maybe even MORE responsible, since losing earlier and digging a hole is worse than losing when trying to make a nearly impossible comeback. That's another way to look at it.

Kazakis as a player was not a weak link. He's maybe not used to the pressure of the MC, but he also didn't get much time to prepare as he was a substitute. He has a strong record. Kazakis was and is better than Corey and Tyler...

What? Kazakis is taking it so hard when having to face the USA on the hill against SVB? SVB the greatest player in the world? Whatever. Quite a tall order. Hey buddy, we're mounting a near impossible comeback and are getting close, just go in there and take out SVB. Piece of cake. Right?

Plenty of earlier matches we can point to that should have been sure-wins for Europe.

Yeah, a loss is certainly the culmination of many missed opportunities.

Kinda lik how you always find the lost item in the last place you look for it.

Not sure what you were watching, but they were hugging him every few seconds afterwards...even during the game they came to re-assure him after every rack.

He was the weakest link by far, its professional sport, there will always be someone who is. Hopefully he will come back stronger and cope with the pressure better next time!

by far? kaci only won 1 or 2 as well....both struggled.

True...but the difference was a) Kaci looked better even when he was struggling and b) he stepped up when it mattered.

But fair point...maybe 'by far the weakest' was an exaggeration, still the weakest though.

That said, I like the fact he showed so much emotion, that shows how much it means to him and that he'll work hard to get back and become a better player.

It matters.
The event had something like 200 staff. To get from the entrance to the practice area there was a security guy to escort the players. It went to over a hundred countries. The crowd was intensely involved. There were life-sized graphic pillars of each player on the way in to the arena. There are fireworks going off as you enter for your match. It's not possible to not be affected by all of that. Oh, and maybe the players are just a tad on the competitive side to start with.
