This is pool’s Battle of the Sexes.
Donny played by Zac Efron.
Siming Chen played by Fan Bingbing.
I can remember a couple of years back when I said there were women players today in China that could give the men fits and everyone laughed at me. Most people told me it was wishful thinking to believe that any woman player could compete against good men players. I saw Siming play over three years ago and I watched a woman play like no other that I had ever seen before. She had a solid stroke, good eye, and knew how to move the cue ball around the table. I'm not at all surprised by what she is doing now. And the fact is there are five or six other women (maybe more by now) in China that are nearly the same speed as her!
Matchroom has it right again. They are introducing women into their feature events. I look for the day when there is a 32 player invitational tournament with 16 men and 16 women all matched up in the first round. That will be eye opening for the non believers.
One other thing that I've always said. There is no physical or mental reason why a woman cannot play pool just as good as any man!

Actually, that's not entirely accurate. At a certain point, the variance starts to narrow. For example, the winning advantage goes way up from a race to 3 vs a race to 25. Thing is, you get finishing returns so a race to 100 is not that more advantageous than, say, a race to 50.

The only true way to determine if Fargo is accurate across the genders is for two equally rated players to play. If she beats Donny it only shows she plays better than Donny. It doesn’t show she can play even with Ruslan, Melling, Woodward and the list goes on.
I know this debate could go on forever because we aren’t going to to see her play any of the players around the same rating as her for two reasons.
1. I They aren’t interested in playing any of said players.
2. Because if she lost all the hype would be over.
Chen is a great player but I just don’t think she can beat the players at her same rating.

Yes, sorry. They played 68 games, not 67. I said before that Siming won one fewer game than the most likely score. I was wrong it is actually two.
The most likely score given their ratings after 68 games is Siming 38 Donny 30.
The actual score is 36 to 32.
Should be a good match.

It has nothing to do with me other than I would like to see her match up with one of those players. However what I want to see and what her backers want to put money up against is a different story. Ask yourself why is she only playing players 30-40 points below her?
As far as Fargo I know enough to know that if I only play players below me I’m never going to know if I can play with the players at my rating. I know this means nothing to the people backing Chen. They are just trying to make money.

She's playing Donny, because Donny thinks Fargo Rate is hogwash, and he said he would beat her by a large margin even though she's rated higher than him.
She isnt supposed to beat players at her same rating-She is supposed to go 50/50 with them over the long run but as you should know- in any sport/game and especially in pool, the lesser player will win some matches-some tournaments- We aren't robots.We have bad days, great days and lucky days. That's why we have the word 'upset'.
Corr beat Ko, Liz Ford beat Earl as did Gerda and on and on-Fargo is a great rating system but no one thinks it will call every match unless they are very intellectually challenged

AND to add to that NO ONE - I mean NO ONE who backs Justin Bergman wants to spot her her 30 games in a race to 100 against Justin. If Justin thinks that Donny is supposed to win by 30 games then he must be able to win by MORE than 30 and IF anyone is crazy enough to back Justin giving up that weight I will be right there betting on Si Ming. But that will never go off and we know why. She can PLAY, flat out play and Justin was wrong.
That is tough action for $4.

Chen is no joke or statistical anomaly. She can flat out play and one might even conclude she only hit top gear in the last 40% of last night's set.
That last out was insane and if that level of execution is in her quiver then I will agree that there are only a couple handfuls of mans that are going to be favored in a reasonably length set.
