Siming Chen vs Donny Mills

If I pull any one of the dozens of books on pool I have in my library, going back to Mosconi's red book, and look for "drills" I find the same thing over and over -- a sequence of shots involving several balls.

I can't recall a "drill" in any of those books involving one shot.

Spot shot drill involves one ball

which ones could she beat.

Have you actually watched her play before you asked this? That woman is a threat to beat ANY man in the world in a race to 9 or 11, and she is a favorite to pound on pretty much anyone around Fargorate 730 and down.

A lot of males on here don't realize that she in no way played her top speed against Donny, and still got there in three separate sets against him. She had him dogging his brains out, even shooting a little bad as she was.

Siming’s situation reminds me of the spot Steve Davis was in ....middle 80s...
..he was the best player the game of snooker had ever seen...so a lot of people...
...even many pros, looked for things he COULDN’T do...and they had to work overtime.

Ms Chen is the best female player I’ve ever seen.

But, no, she can’t run 400 balls whilst playing Chopin’s Polonaise in C minor....
....unless the Steinway has been professionally tuned.

What’s scary is she’ll be in her prime in the next few years......
...and show some other talented women the way....er...Tao

She is playing in th US Open in April. That is a very strong field with a lot of the best players in the world. It should provide a good test for her. Whoever does well in that field deserves it.

Straight pool may be the best drill of all.

IMO, str8 pool is not a "maybe" when considering the best drill..... it is the best drill.

It literally has something for everyone without fail...... cuts, banks, kiss shots, combinations....etc...etc...not to mention, it does not end after 1 break and 9 shots in a row. It takes WAY more Getty-up-and-go to be a str8 pool killer vs being a 9 ball killer.

which ones could she beat.

All of them.

No really, she is a 780 speed player which LITERALLY means that she can win any given set against ANY living human.

Will she win all the time?

No, of course not. Shane doesn't win all the time and literally EVERYONE else has a lower skill rating than he does.

But his win percentage is enough to earn him the top RATINGS spot at the moment.

I mean this is what it's about, the skill rating means that the player with it plays at that level with zero regard to the sex of the player.

Now, having said that, WOULD she perform worse when she is being fired back at by players her speed and higher? Maybe. Maybe not. For all we know in any given span of games she could play perfectly because she gets in the zone and runs large packages. Would she get better if she constantly played people her speed and above? Most likely just like anyone with half a brain and even a little motivation gets better playing people their speed and above.

She sure isn't going to get worse by playing them and is a threat to beat anyone.

No argument but a finer point...

My understanding is that she plays with and trains with Jiaqing Wu regularly. So I wouldn’t act like she hasn’t spent significant time firing against an 800+ opponent.

She does. I already knew that but my main point was that if she was from Madagascar and no one in her country was above 600 and she was a 780 then she would still be legitimately a 780.

She also plays against top men players in China who probably aren't yet rated but who could all be 750+, that's how deep the field is. Like the Filipino players no one ever heard of going toe to toe with known champions.

I've played several Philippino players in the last couple years that would go 775ish ALL DAY LONG that are COMPLETE strangers to most everyone in the US pool scene with the exception of a few high stakes gamblers....

I always chuckle everytime I hear someone say the "road hustlers" are gone due to social media...lol.

Sure, your run-of-the-mill road man is busted but, there are some VERY, VERY strong players that visit the US and other parts of the world on a much more regular basis than most thin.

As for China and a few other places....lol..... there are tons of frakkin BEAST that are virtually unknown to most of the world.

Siming is now 789 on March 11, 2019. I'd like to know how she got there in the past week. I suppose it was her dominating performance in the WPBA event. I'd also like to know if her match with Wilkie was put in. It was advertised in advance and streamed for free.

If her performance jump from 781 a week ago was due to the WPBA event, it adds fuel to the "runaway" fire of the top women, whom rarely mix it up with the men. It is exactly like a remote island linked to the mainland by only 1 or two islanders. It has zero to do with sex. It has everything to do with isolation. IMO of course.

So a good question for the Keeper of the Data would be: how many games have been recorded between men and women to link those two groups? I imagine that the number is over 10,000. And if that is correct, I think they are strongly connected.

I think the question should be: “how many games and how many players amongst the top 20 Fargo females players have been recorded against the male players.”

I’m guessing the number is super low. 4 players and 150 games.

You keep saying this ad nauseam but all evidence suggests it is not true.

All mike has to do is show all the data of the top 20 fargorate women to the men. All of it. I’ll stay mum after that if there is a good amount.

Earlier in the thread he said the women are well linked. But I think (forgive me if i misremembered) he said top 100. The 100 level woman is a B+ player at 597.

Between the top 100 women and men it might be 10,000 to 20,000. Between women an men generally it is much much higher

He has not shown any evidence to refute my explicit contention. I don’t have the evidence. Only Mike does. All I have is the same as everyone else here. My memory. We all have to think super hard to recall “any” match between top 20 women and pro men.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. We all know Karen Corr has played thousands of games. And here are the people Kristina Tkatch has played--over 200 games. And Kelly Fisher has played in multiple Great Britain 9-Ball tour events (against Boyes, Burford, etc) as well as Turning Stone. And Chezka's played Donny Mills and Biado and Amar Kang and Yu Lung Chang and many others.

And when you get a little lower to April Larson, Taylor Hanson, Vivian Villareal, and Jennifer Barretta youve get several thousand more
