I discovered that I rally don't know sqat about pool

If you think it hits differently, you will hit it differently. Some things are better not learned.

I have hobbies I do for no other reason than fun. Like fishing, golf, reading. Pool and cards are just a action thing.

Now buying and selling cues I enjoy.

I had a friend that was like that with backgammon. He could play pool for fun or money with equal pleasure, but when it cam to backgammon if we weren't gambling and using the cube he just wasn't interested. He said it just wasn't the same game without the cube, and I agree (although I like it either way).

Cube considerations can be so complicated...money cubes and set cubes....
...I can’t imagine anybody doing those analyses if there was no backgammon action.

Same with pool action....players today owe a lot to road players....
...a lot of esoteric knowledge would remain unknown....when one is playing for serious
$$$, many things that may seem trivial to some can become the difference between
winning and phoning home for money.

Micro-dosing

Micro-dosing mushrooms ( half gram or less) will improve anyone’s game . Vision, confidence, energy levels, being able to focus long periods of time and letting your mind not think too much all come from doing this . Not to mention attitude about pool and life . Many medical benefits from taking these in microdose amounts. There’s been nothing I’ve seen that gives you the power to play your best .

Is this the point in da thread where someone suggests you take up photography....or has somebody said dat already?

Interesting first post...

Probably one of my bubs from The Shroomery... you’ll find idgits over there too but not so much negativity and whining. It’s good advice for cluster headaches but I don’t know about pool, although they can make some extra bridges in the brain. Funny post

magic mushrooms

While I don't advocate using any chemical crutches to play I do have to admit that the medical community is researching magic mushrooms pretty hard right now, probably will develop some medications from them. Eric's post here isn't without foundation although I think where he went to is a bad idea. I didn't see his thread starter so I suspect that had more to do with his banning than this post, or he violated something like the multiple membership rule.

About the home tables and them being harmful, I strongly disagree. My first table was a junk sears home table I paid 125 for used. Bought a $200 set of balls and I was ready to play. My living room with the pool table was parallel to the main hall of the house with doors on each end of the living room. Aside from other practice, I made a habit of walking through the living room instead of the hall and running off a rack of balls every time I would have walked down the hall. Helped my game tremendously!

No question that I like the cash from gambling but I have always been into the challenge of making shots on the pool table too. Put them together by winning the cheese while working out the problems on a tough table, great!

A lot of people reacted very strongly to his thread, probably spamming the mods with complaints. The whole idea is quite stupid, anyway, especially from a European perspective. Here pool is treated like a sport and there is a (slim) chance of a drug test being done. Small dose or no, you're going to get banned if they catch you. Ask Mario He, not to speak of possible jail time from getting caught by the police with enough of the stuff. Is a very slight edge (possibly) in playing pool worth ruining once life over? Also there is the chance that you get "addicted" in the sense that you cannot play without it (though mushrooms are not physically addictive), much like some get with gambling. Gambling addiction is almost the same thing as a drug addiction, they even use the same rehab centers.

As far as using drugs in a general, non competitive setting, I'm kind of a libertarian in regards to that. It's your body, so you should be free to do whatever you want with it, as long as you don't directly harm others. Mushrooms is the only illegal drug I've ever tried (once) apart from pot (also once). It wasn't pleasant, and I'd doubt it would help my pool game. I did try playing a little pool while using prescribed muscle relaxers and painkillers to help my back pain. I had to stand upright and shoot, but my stroke did feel smooth. No focus, though, and I did feel kind of sick. Painkillers do not agree with my stomach. Guess I'm not a drug person.

I'm really into microdosing truffles though. Helps a lot of dishes taste better, but is a rather expensive habit, and can be addictive.

no drug testing here

No drug testing here yet, or maybe an event or two. I think it is one of the things that will be needed for pool to be considered a sport here though.

I once knew a couple guys that cooked up a huge pot of mushroom tea every weekend. I took a sip one time. Damn that stuff was nasty! I wasn't interested anyway, they can mess you up or kill you, not the kind of risks I wanted to take to get high. Couldn't enjoy drinking that nasty stuff either so that removed all doubts!

I have to take a handful of pills a day now, the cost of staying alive. It has played hell with my pool game. When it comes to the illegal stuff, even seemingly minor things, lost interest in my early twenties and no regrets. Never took anything heavy anyway.

The "no direct harm" thing sounds reasonable. "Sounds" only though, in truth it is, forgive me, horse crap! An example: My best friend in high school and running buddy for years afterwards got into drugs. Ended with him setting up an ambush to try to take his wife he had left a few weeks earlier for an eighteen year old girl with him, almost did take me with him, then when his wife came with police he blew his own silly brains out. I will ignore the damage to his parents and just start with his wife that he did a great deal of harm to. They had too daughters, both a great deal of harm done to. The daughters had three children each, the family issues spread downwards. When I lost track of them the grandchildren had young children, I have very little hope for them. I very strongly dislike the claims of drug users harming nobody but themselves because it is totally garbage. Besides the impact to those around them they and the families they should be supporting are a tremendous drain on society so they harm each and every one of us.

Not a popular viewpoint with many here on AZB but I hate illegal drugs and I hate the users that let it impact their lives and the lives of people around them. I hate legal drugs too, went years never taking more than maybe an aspirin, but legal drugs can have their place.

Sorry for the anti-drug rant. Every time I read the "no harm to others" or even "no direct harm" I think of my friend's family. He died long ago. How long is his negative impact going to be passed on? Messed up children very often mess up their own children. It seems endless.
