Stroke! Wonder How to get their fantastic Strokes?

I always like to watch 3C players stroke the ball.

The AVERAGE 3C player has a better stroke than 99% of all pocket pool players.

BTW, what tip do you use?

A friend of mine is changing to a Zan Hybrid. I've heard that the Zan Hybrid is very popular with 3C players.

Have you tried the Zan Hybrid? If so, what did you think?

Thanks,

Jeff

I play with a G2 soft.

Personally, I don't know any 3C players that use Zan Hybrid tip.

I disagree on that one point. Anyway, the emphasis is entirely different in 3c and pocket billiards, which is why you sometimes see choppy, ugly and weak strokes in pocket billiards, while those things may be more rare in 3c. In 3c you need a lot more feel in regards to speed and spin, which places emphasis on a smooth stroke and accurate cueball striking. On the other hand, the demands on stroke straightness are far greater in pocket billiards while the margin for error on spin may be greater. Longer brides, and paradoxically, sometimes shorter strokes result. I'd say the differences are even greater between snooker and 3cushion, while pool and 3 cushion are more closely related, in regards to technique.

Anyway, I'd say the biggest difference between the pocket billiards games and 3 cushion, is the fact that 3 cushion has very little (though some) defense. The path to victory is more varied in pool, for instance. You could be a great defensive player, a great ball pocketer or a great position player, and all of these qualities can be a way to win matches. In 3 cushion, well....You have to make those points, and you need to master more techniques to do so. Tough to win without being a well-rounded offensive player. Defense won't get you very far.

Yes, in pocket pool and snooker, you can be average ball maker but very strong safe player and beat a better shot maker.....or vise versa.

I've played 3C. It's been a LOOONNNGGGG time ago lol. Been at least 35 years.

Maybe I've been remembering 3C wrong but, in my mind, I was remembering 3C being MUCH, MUCH hard to play than pocket billiards or snooker.....again, it's been 35 years or so.

Everything a player needs to know about, 'defense' in 3 cushion, can be learned in about 30 minutes!

IMHO, 3 cushion is the most difficult of ALL cue games! Playing 3C at a top level requires the player to try and control the , CB the second ball and sometimes the 3rd, as to scoring on a certain side of the ball with correct speed. It's much to do about playing position in the, 'Modern' game of today!

I wasn't gonna disagree with str8pool99 simply because I've not played 3c in years and only "remember" certain things....getting older sucks.

But, I do still have eyes and I "see" 3C matches on the net all the time. Things the "average" 3C player does with the CB would be OUT OF THE QUESTION for MOST ALL pocket pool / snooker players.

Again, just my opinion.

Then again, the truth will stand when the WORLD is on fire.
