Is the time right for a new usa pro tour?

I only say this because there are many great pool tournaments in the US alone right now that are being played less and less at the pool halls. You have the two turning stone events, the current CSI players championship, the international 9 ball open, the us open and upcoming world 10 ball championships.

would it be a smart bet for someone to try to establish a new pro tour and work with these organizers to make something together? Or should a new governing body be formed first?

Is B.H. in it for the long haul? We'll soon find out. It's success is pivotal for change.

Probably not going to happen in my lifetime.

You'd have to bring down gas prices and motel rooms will have to be free.

It's just not a good spectator sport and the game is too easy.

I don't know where the money would come from. Most players are broke.

The game is to easy and not a good spectator sport.?? mean while in the rest of the world pool players are making bank and are packing arena’s lol have you ever watched any snooker. Barry Hearns has people packing the house chomping at the bit to watch it . The literally shut down bbc for a week to show nothing but snooker during the world championships. It takes someone with vision and an ability to promote and brings the player together . Your answer was one of the most uneducated answer I’ve read in a while. There is a world of pool outside of the United States in case you weren’t aware.

Totally agree. Nothing wrong with the game but a lack of direction and $$. Barry H. and Matchroom bring both. I mean seriously, has anyone ever sweated his pro darts league? The leader on the PDCTour has made 1.6MILLION pounds so far(2yr period). That's over 2million$. PLAYING DARTS. Do not under-estimate what BH and his org. may do for pool.

no

it will only ever be the right time once someone can figure out a profitable business model

that really has never been done

Seriously?

It is a complex issue and you might have 20 writing errors in your post.

The latter indicates you really aren't qualified to comment on the former.

Tony Chohan is organizing some type of tour. He made a few long posts on Facebook about it which were realtively vague. He's planning to meet with players at the US Open soon to discuss further.

The conversation is about a pro tour in the USA.

Try to keep up with all the big words on the subject.

I’ll play you at bank shots on the big tables. No free WiFi or motel rooms and I won’t pay for your gas there or back. Do you accept?

Answer these questions:

What is in it for the organizers/promoters?
What is in it for the venue?
What is in it for the sponsors?

There is little reason for any of these groups of people to focus on pool. Sponsors get much wider name recognition and more positive recognition sponsoring almost anything else.

If the venue is a pool hall it usually loses money on events. Other places make no more from pool events than anything else and often less.

Organizers/promoters usually take a financial bath while putting up with hellacious headaches and most of the players pissing and moaning about something.

When the people involved on the other side of pool events start making enough to justify the financial risks and the headaches involved with pool players then it will be time to talk about a new US tour or even new major events.

Players should be bending over backwards to do everything they can to make events successful for the people sponsoring and running events. Instead they never get past "what is in it for me?" The answer is simple. Except for an occassional bite of an apple the latest sucker is holding, there is nothing in it for pool players until there is something in an event or tour for these other people too.

This is how I see the US situation. I don't concern myself with what is happening in the rest of the world. There aren't but a very few US players that can play regularly anywhere else anyway.

Woof...............:groucho:

Lol. He said the game was too easy so I figure he’s either:

- just talking and I can probably win

- the game really is easy for him and I’ll get to see top speed up close.

Either way I win something. And I like to play pool. I figured I’d get much more action by showing up here but such has not been the case, I still have to hope to find the right candidate out and about.

Carry on with the tour talk don’t mind little old me.
