Aranas vs. Filler Ten Ball

I'll nominate the title of this match as the greatest ever match title:

The Quarantine 10-ball Duel

Seriously, does it get any better than this title. It's a match title I'll never forget, even though I haven't been watching.

Most of the credit goes to Roy's Basement here, but bravo to Aranas for taking on a stone cold killer like Filler and also to Josh for playing a great, in form player on his home table, but Filler has, to some extent, developed his strong pedigree by regularly matching up with the top Asian players. Also, I don't know if Filler has ever played a long race before, so win or lose, he's gaining some great experience here.

Both of these players are representing our game well, and I commend them both. Good luck to both of them in Session 3 tomorrow.

I'd say James is the one gaining some experience here, the hard way!

It was 59-53 Filler when James had a 6 ball skid and hang. Filler ran out to go 60-53, then broke and ran the next 6 to close out day two 66-53 on an unfinished run. This might be the best 10 ball run I've ever seen and it's in progress until tomorrow! Two jump shots on the 1, a 1 ball so tough I didn't even consider offense, and a lot of tough shots. What a beast!

I don't know if SVB can get there with this kid. Filler's break is at least as good and he's hungry and playing like a darned machine. I couldn't get much action on Filler this set but if he wins I feel like I win two bets. The one I made, and the one I saved from seeing this and not betting SVB if they match up. I'm a believer.

He won't even play Shane 10 ball and know his break isn't as good

Even watching today, I still say Shane's break is better than Filler. Filler shoots straight though. It would be a very even match, but Filler won't play 10b vs Shane. It'll end up being 9b and I think Filler will have the edge there.

well not excatly that would be losing your own money and not getting paid , I think James sometimes tries to get perfect shape Filler will settle for a long shot he's guaranteed of instead an he is in the class of DO and Shaw as a sniper straight shooter ,
One day of off for both players , I'd like to see both players in form tomorrow,
Great match its a win win for both players both earn money and both gain valuable experience at the same time ,
Big cudoes to Roy for setting it up a big win for us , I'm hoping to see more maybe one pocket again , they broke even the other night , their going to be locked down for a while so why not more ,

It's really hard to bet against Shane because you don't know what Shane your getting if your getting the Shane that played DO last time obviously well practiced in stroke and focused that's tough sledding regardless of game

Filler or Shane in a long race?

I think part of it comes down to who is most likely to rise up when the other guy is running rack after rack. Shane can dig himself out of a hole, but we've also seen him go into give up mode, and slump in his chair. I don't see that in Filler.

10-Ball, Race to 100. I'd take Filler -4

Anyone still watching the stream? Pia is playing a set of 9 ball against a guy named Matt and Josh is doing commentary.

I've seen Pia play before. She's pretty good.

All the "carbon-haters" must be sportin' chubbies watchin' this since both are using wood play shafts. ;)

Josh just said he switched to a Z3 because he liked it better in practice. However, he's working with Predator on a Revo shaft that will work for him.

So he might be switching back to a carbon fiber in the future.

Wow

Wow. He's going to switch shafts in the future? If I played the way he played today with a Z3 you couldn't put a gun on me to get me to switch! I know, I'm sure they're offering him a wheelbarrow full of benjamins, but still.

Then again, what if he ended up playing better?!? :O

Shane broke and ran-out some 40% against Dennis .
Nobody beats Shane in rack your own .
He and Dennis were pattern racking. Odd numbers one one side and even numbers on the other side . Plays the one ball to the side, if he misses one goes close to the other corner .
He was making 3-balls on the break quite often .
Shane also plays brutal safes .

Filler will implode against Shane .

Chang Jung Lin is a different monster. I think he gets the best shot against SVB.

He liked it because Revo does not make that small tip and conical taper yet.

Lord, I have no idea why anyone likes that conical taper .

Saw DO also playing with a Z3. Aranas just got sponsored by pred, I swear it looks like he’s using a Z3 also. Hard to tell though on streams cause the 3 and Z and even the V all look the same. Anyone know? Just curious.

On the stream yesterday they said james-314-3
Josh-z3.
Roy also said James was having a revo made to his specs and was waiting for it to come.

I don't think mentioning that SVB was pattern racking helps your argument. Not when you consider the fact that Filler hasn't been pattern racking, and is still close to SVB's break and run numbers.

I thought someone on the stream yesterday said Nosh was breaking running at a 60% clip. I don’t know the exact number but it wouldn’t surprise me. There’s no one on the planet who was beating him yesterday. No one
