Aranas vs. Filler Ten Ball

I thought someone on the stream yesterday said Nosh was breaking running at a 60% clip. I don’t know the exact number but it wouldn’t surprise me. There’s no one on the planet who was beating him yesterday. No one

He was 25% on Day 1, 55% on Day 2, and 42% for the two days combined.

By the way, be wary of numbers you hear from commentators on streams. Yesterday, one of them said that Filler had 17 or 18 B&Rs in the first 25 games played yesterday. The actual count for those first 25 games was 9. He had 21 B&Rs for the day, and the 17th one came in the 55th game of the day (out of the 59 games played).

Impressive. Not Filler's game, so it might be a good one.

Far as I can tell (two posts, one by Roy asking and one by JB responding) they'll play at the basement. I think Filler can deal with meticulous patterns; already know Bergman can. Right now I care more about the 10 ball in progress though.

I really thought that playing in Roy's basement was worth 10 on the wire to James, and I thought that he had an outside chance to win this, but home court wasn't nearly enough.

Of course, when you play Filler, you'll sometimes get carved up into little pieces, and that's what happened here. Aranas is a fantastic player with a load of talent, but he's not good enough to beat the most elite in tough action more than occasionally. He is to be admired for his courage, but he'll need to start looking for an easier matchup than this one.

Of course, this match didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. As we so often note on this forum, at the very top of our sport are JL Chang, Josh Filler, and SVB. There are a few who can put a scare in them from time to time (as we saw in 2019, Jayson Shaw got 91 games in his race to 100 with SVB), but these three are the crème de la crème. We all ache for matches involving any two of them, but who knows when such matches are coming, especially with our game and our lives suddenly in suspended mode.

Listening to Filler on the stream and he says he has beaten SVB 8 out of the 9 times they have played.

Sounds like there needs to be a 100-game race set up.

Also, I just heard him say his high run in 14.1 is 310. Not too shabby.

Can you answer a couple questions?

I'm guessing Roy's basement is just that, a basement in Roy's house.
Does Roy normally hold money matches there?
How was it DD's home room...Is he from that area?

My understanding is that since DD is one of Roy's horses, that's why people were saying it was his "home room"

Not really sure home court advantage exists in pool. One exception might be if you're playing in the Philipines. But this was on a standard Diamond which Filler had plenty of time to play on prior to the match.
