$10,000 One Pocket Challenge: Lou Figueroa vs John Barton

John is hilarious and has a history on AZB.

-Feuding with Jack Justis and it was hilarious. He went as far as taking a Justis case apart and exposed Justis cases.

-The feud got so bad he started making interiors for Justis' owners.

-Anyone putting a JB interior in a Justis case will have their warranty voided per Jack.

-He mad a Youtube video on how to build your very own Justis case. He never completed the series.

And just a few minutes ago I had someone order a Justis interior. Feuding with Jack is something I regret. BUT I want to be very very clear that Jack accused me of something that I did not do on this forum. It was unfair to me and that's what got me going. I chose not to complete the series because I felt it was going too far and because I was doing it out of spite it was not going to be done well. Also it was taking time away from other projects.

inadvertently the arguing led to the development of the removable interior that we currently use in all of our hard cases. So something good came out of it. Jack and I reconciled and have remained good friends like we were before the spat.

I respect Jack a ton and do not allow ANY knockoffs of his main 3 diamond signature design to be sold on Open Billiards Market, our buy-sell-trade group with over 50k members.

You have put up good content here in the past and i had the pleasure of owning one of your late model leather cases a while ago which was well made.

Food for thought: the reason your in the top 1% of AZ members with the most occurrences of banning is because you havn't developed the ability to make a point when arguing/debating and then disengaging.

Because, and this is a major problem with the internet and forums, when I make a point that is accurate and true the other side comes back with more untruth and more slander.

John, I tried to be supportive for years due to our common interest in cases and history, but you just derailed yourself over and over for the above reason. You view yourself as a victim getting picked on, but switch to offense to lash out at your perceived enemies, in fact becoming the bully you decry. Everything that's happened to you was at your own hand.

I agree...

How about the other legendary case maker, Volturi, did you guys made up?

How about the other legendary case maker, Volturi, did you guys made up?

Legendary? The one who makes his money selling Justis knockoffs? After helping him for a solid year - with video tutorials, sending him tubes (that he never paid for), and advice he decided that me complimenting him on using a technique that I invented was going to be where he decided to go off as if I accused him of murder. Then he threatened to kill my family to my friends, customers that I had sent to him......

What do you think?

Immediately after the end of the last game of the first day, I went up to Ed, the owner of the room we played at, Sandcastle in NJ (and who is one of the most stand up guys in pool), to complain about your cheating — our conversation went like this:

Lou: “I got a complaint.”
Ed: “What is it?”
Lou: “John was getting coached by the black guy in his corner.”
Ed: “Oh yeah. I could see it from the booth. I was waiting for you to say something.”

Lou Figueroa

Another "story".

I was telling what Mike's story was. He said she was frightened, not that you necessarily did anything to warrant it except make the call.

Calm down, I thought it was a funny story and an amusing back story. I had no knowledge if it were true just that you acknowledged you had made the call and spoke to his mom.

When I said correct me if I'm wrong, I meant politely.

Sorry I got a little heated only seeing people thinking I did something wrong to his mother.

I was very clear when I finally got back on AZB that I was excessively polite to her and Mike's wife and to Mike and that Mike's version was a flat out lie.

Note that john put just the word "story" in quotes, acknowledging that it isn't a story at all! Freudian slip acknowledging truth while struggling to disavow it.

Hu

No, I meant it's ANOTHER LIE. Quotes is a way of nicely saying that the "story" is a lie or highly embellished.

He makes some excellent pieces and good protection too.

The real question is, where's the body of Carole Baskin's ex ?

Not in my opinion. The three that I own are incomplete in the interior with about 3" of liner missing at the bottom of the tubing. Also the leather has shrunk and the zippers are broken.

The first case that he sent to my good customer, a customer that I gave him, was so bad that a 10k cue got stuck in it halfway down and required using pliers and a towel to remove it.

Another case sent to another good customer of mine whom I turned on to Roger broke within a month and Roger refused to fix it and it was sent to me to repair. When I opened it up I found it stuffed with plastic supermarket bags.

There is a history of him sending out flawed and wrong cases and then refusing to fix them. I have two cases in my possession that are now mine because Roger ripped off the owners and the only way they could recover some of what they spent was to trade the cases in towards JB Cases. I have another one with a broken zipper that is broken because Roger doesn't know how to sew a zipper in properly.

But, you're right that his shop sometimes creates some pretty work. Too bad that he puts two lines of rivets through the art. Another thing that bothers me is that he does laser engraving but claims it's hand tooled and that he is the tooler. I have nothing against laser engraving and we use it a lot in our work. I just have a problem with lying to consumers about it and pretending that the work is hand tooled when it is not.

I made a video detailing this.

OK, so here are the crib notes for anyone that doesn't care to waste their time watching video.

I wrote all this up at the request of many, many folks here wanting my take on how this all came down, just a few days after the match.

So, here it is, day one through three.

You can all make up your own minds about how truthful it is compared to JB's occasional counterpoints. He never responded with a review of his own, don't know why.
