New AzB Platform.....

Just wondering how many folks enjoy the new format? I find it less inviting, too busy with colors, icons, just the whole darn
environment seems less inviting to read. And the recital of prior posts being included with someone’s response makes the
thread’s replies difficult to follow. If something doesn’t change, I think there’ll be less visitors to the website and data mining
should be able to ascertain site traffic. As far as the F/S threads, browsing is just less appealing than before with this format.
Anyway, I am not generally a creature of habit & change is usually a good and necessary thing but this time IMO not so much.

I like the old site better. I've seen it many times - a website is changed to bring it up to speed or make it better and all that happens is it is worse.

Can we go back to the old site?

To me the old site was much richer colors better graphics felt easier to navigate some of that might be because of familiarity we may just have to get more familiar with this new platform however it feels to me much more like an old bulletin board compared with what we had

I much prefer the old site . Everything about it seems more functional and pleasing to use . I would vote to switch it back . No disrespect to az I appreciate all they do .

Have you tried it in shades of grey? bottom left button.
I haven't traveled front to back yet but looks like the same main template through out, which is good.
like the news banner at the top too

I find this software works a lot better. I've been using it for months over at onepocket.org. It does take some time to get used to and Mike still has things he's working on. There is a thread for problems and/or irritations.

It's easier to deal with images and media. It keeps a draft of a message if you fail to post it after editing.

I think the default style is fine.

As far as the general look and feel of the new platform, that can be changed with different "Styles", like the "Shade of Grey" and "Default Dark". As far as I can tell, the functionality is very similar to the old platform.

This platform is much more secure and better maintained. Going back to the old platform is probably not going to happen. It would take something major to make something like that happen.

We did lost the greenies, but the equivalent of the User CP is found by clicking your avatar and username at the top right of the screen.

Are the "Shades of Grey" and the "XF2 Default Dark" styles both supposed to have black backgrounds? I do wish that the text was darker (easier to read) on the default style with a white background.

The final verdict will be in membership and usage. As a free member, I have little to gripe about.
I was once a paid member but the antics that were indulged and to some degree allowed on the
part of some members persuaded me it wasn’t worth the cost of being a gold member. Now that
was a few years ago and there has been improvement on the intercession of the Forum Moderators
to curtail unacceptable behavior. But as I wrote, when you are a free loader, your right to gripe is lost.

Nonetheless, for the overall purpose of making this place a better environment and hopefully expanding
it’s role, even standard members’ opinions can have validity. IMO, the final verdict will be based on how
many visitors there are, the average amount of time on the website and most importantly, the duration
length in between visits. I used to visit daily but that isn’t going to likely happen and the amount of visit
time greatly shortened. I just find the new format less inviting and I think it discourages more usage than
it does to increase it. If I’m correct, the data mining will confirm this but the conversion is fait accompli.

I see some nice features, but the overall look/feel doesn't come close to the old site. I also appreciate and applaud the efforts. You can't make a cake without breaking eggs, but we always want the cake to be like Mom's.

It annoyed me at first, but then I started discovering things I like better about it. It’ll take some getting used to, but I have a feeling it’ll be worth the trouble in the end.

Change is always disruptive until it’s familiar again. I bet those complaining would have complained too if we had started here and switched to there.

Give it a chance - channel that annoyance into arguing about something.

Much better.
Easier to read, navigate, post a photo, find new posts

Only complaint Is a minor one: too many pinned forums at top of main forum.

Big plus. Much easier for new posters to register. I couldn’t remember password, or email used so opened new account...almost instant. Big issue in past from fellow biliard players was difficulty registering so they gave up. Hopefully site will now have more fresh input.

I understand that change is difficult for everyone, and there are definitely some changes to the format here.

vbulletin 3.8 (our old platform) was past "end of life" and was getting very creaky around the edges. Not to mention, it was a security risk. So staying with that was really not an option. Hopefully everyone understands that this was not just change for the sake of change. It really was a necessary thing.

Hopefully, as more people use this platform a little more, they will get used to the changes and we can maybe find workarounds for some of the new ways that things work here.

Honestly though, for a 20 year old site. We hadn't changed anything in quite some time.

Looks like you are playing Debbie Downer. I think the new format is fine.
