Ronnie O'Sullivan up next live

Like I said, Selby is in Ronnie's head.
For my money it started with Ronnie asking the referee to speak with Mark re moving. Mark did claim Ronnie sharking and disrespect complaint after Ronnie won last time. Ronnie must’ve felt guilty ? 🤷

I thought it was payback time when Selby stated his tip was working okay in his remarks after his win. He is an odd duck. I'm sorry. But he never smiled the entire time and looked like Lurch. Ronnie struggled and couldn't get into gear. That's for sure. He was benched most of the time, and when he did get to the table a few brief times, most of his table time were safety battles. Selby played well. I can't take that away from him, but something about him is strange. When he smiled at the end for the trophy, it seemed difficult and fake. As soon as the cameras stopped, his facial expression went back to Lurch mode.

Long live Ronnie O'Sullivan. He's still my horse if he never wins another race.

... Long live Ronnie O'Sullivan. He's still my horse if he never wins another race.
He's back on live in 20 minutes against Ali Carter. There has been a little friction between them.

I stopped being a Carter fan a while ago for an unrelated incident. "The Mysterious Case of the Unmolested Lemon", as Sherlock Holmes might have it.

... How did that pink go in?
I assume you mean this pink to win the third frame (just after 16:30):

They seem to change the cloth every other day. Slip and slide. If they changed the cloth that often at pool or carom tournaments I think the players would revolt.

Bob that is the pink.I was thinking of another shot, which was a red and not pink also.

I really wondered about the red into the "1" hole at about 9.15 camera is right behind the pocket showing the miss which somehow falls.

Here it is with a time marker at 9:27.

Yes, I remember that shot. Any harder and I don't think it drops.

Judd's up now against Stuart Bingham with Ronnie to follow against Barry Hawkins. Still races to 4.

Ding loses 4-1 to a guy I've never heard of.
Hossein Vafaei. He is currently ranked in the top 40 and is the first (and only?) Iranian pro snooker player. He was a 3:1 underdog in the Ding match. He also has about $400,000 in career winnings.

Matches start in five minutes. Trump and O'Sullivan in separate matches.

Hossein won the world amateur at the age of 17. Iran has a thriving snooker community.

Ronnie scrambles over the line against Kyren and will play Judd at 1PM Eastern on Friday in the first semifinal.

Really enjoyed watching John Higgins vs Zhao and Ronnie vs Kyren.
John demonstrated why they call him the wizard. Even when he is playing bad he is dangerous. Some time ago, Ronnie in an interview indicated that John was the player he feared the most.
Zhao got some seasoning and prevailed in the match. Kyren just got the seasoning.

wow how much better is professional snooker when steve davis and stephen hendry are in the booth. it’s like having staubach and bradshaw call an nfl playoff game.

I was really impressed with Zhao's performance against Higgins. He's 23 years old, but he looked like a teenager on the stage. Just like in pool, the snooker world better prepare themselves for the Chinese Invasion. They're coming. Li Hang is another one. He almost beat Ronnnie in the Scottish Open and then lost speed towards the end.

Vafaei misses the pink leaving himself 19 ahead and with 13 remaining.

And Selby decided to play on despite the fact he needed a snooker, which is probably really hard to do with only 2 balls on the table.

Came really close a few times.

I was down 35 points once with only the 6 and 7 balls left on the table and managed to win the game. My opponent was not a world champion, though.

What was this rule about?
Snooker has many of these bizarre rules that even players like Ronnie are clueless 😂
...
For those who don't know the rule... If you can hit a red full ball when playing reds, you must hit a red within three tries or you lose the frame. Ronnie could just get through the window and go straight at a red. Now, another snooker rule comes into play. He could not actually hit the red he could go straight towards because another red blocked the full-ball contact. But at snooker, you cannot be snookered by a red when playing a red. That means you have to imagine, in turn for each red, only one red left on the table. In that imaginary situation, it was possible for Ronnie to go through the window between pink and brown to make full contact.

Note that the rule for being snookered is different. You are snookered on a ball when you cannot hit both extreme edges of the ball. In the situation in the video, Ronnie was snookered on the red on which he could make full-ball contact because the pink was in the way of hitting the red all the way on the right side (from our viewpoint).
