If you're there to play or watch the event, why does it matter what state it's in? The event will be 2nd to none with Matchroom hosting it.

As for the general consideration of location, it makes a difference to me because I no longer watch 100% of long tournaments. I like to see the area. As an example, southern Indiana in the middle of winter is not somewhere I want to spend time.

I think I'd rather have it in Atlantic City for a change. For me, Las Vegas is something to deal with more than something to enjoy because of what it has changed to.

Wow, in AC! When was the last time a major was held there? 1986 TCOM?;) I'm from Philly and AC is in my back door. That's exciting for the locals. I expect more local Philly talent than usual to enter.

I'm not going to stay in the hotel the entire time. Unless its changed a LOT AC is not much to see. It was a dump with a beach when i went.

Wow, Atlantic City is as close to me as The US Open will ever be...sadly, I wouldn't be able to arrange that this year. Maybe it'll go over well enough this year that they might be back again in the future.

Not a fan of the Jersey shore. Take Vegas any time. I'm doing a golf trip instead. Best time of year to play.
I mean, if you really want an $8 cup of coffee and a $30 burger and fries I’m sure it can be found in Atlantic City. I was fine with Vegas 20 years ago when rooms and meals could be had for cheap, but now that the prices on both have become insane there’s zero benefit beyond the “prestige” of having it in Las Vegas.

Man where were you getting you coffee and burgers!!! I just left and there and there are still plenty of places to get a reasonable meal outside the hotels. And I'm sure you don't think AC is like bargain city do you?

Never said Atlantic City was a bargain, but there’s also no benefit for east coasters to fly three time zones away and get robbed by casinos when we have many establishments here that are happy to do it without the cost of a plane ticket. And for people who work/volunteer/staff these events all day our options for getting off campus are limited.

Totally get the EastCoast'rs point of view. I've heard its gotten better in recent yrs but i'd still never go back. IMO more people would go to Vegas for this event than AC. I'd rather go to Pat's event if i'm going back east.

I get the west coasters as well. AC just isn’t an attractive draw for that. I will say this: Harrahs is in the marina section, which is considered the nicer, more upscale section of the city. It’s also where the Borgata is which I’d put up against most Vegas casinos and resorts. so if you’re having visions of boardwalks loaded with skeevy people and t shirt shops, you’re half right. marina is two miles from the boardwalk and feels even further.

The World 10-ball is in Vegas this year Sept 6-10, right after the Diamond Open, both during CSI’s big pool league event. There will probably be a lot of players traveling from the World 10-ball to the US Open. Between Predator’s new Pro Pool Series and all these Matchroom events, there’s a lot of pro pool going on.

Better as in you might not get murdered right away, yeah. Many people go to AC and never set foot outside the Casino, like me, just because the local scene isn't that great. Even though its an hour drive, I may wind up staying at one of the places I usually stay in Cape May and make the drive up to AC. I'm guessing Matchroom was in a good bargaining position, and perhaps locked in a multi-year deal.

Don't get me wrong, I love having it so close to home. But AC is, well, AC lol.

There's a good bar on the boardwalk next to Tropicana called Bier Garten(I believe) Micro brews etc. Plus cornhole, big jenga and some others.
