Diamond arrived update

I wonder how true that is when a person drops $5k on an anniversary with a disdained look, unrestored, and the rails not rebuilt.
:) I don't know but a $1200 one (and maybe $50 worth of supplies) has helped me learn a few things with help from the mechanics here. I bought what was in my budget in order to play right away instead of a several years down the road. It kept me sane through the covid closures. It doesn't compare to a Diamond but at least it gives me something to practice on. Olhausen isn't bad per se, but it was pretty gaffy until I put a little work into it.

A few years down the road I'd like to upgrade to a 9' Diamond, but it's going to require tearing out a stud wall into my soldering/pool cue maintenance room. I'll also have to move two steel floor jacks... not a fun process to do it correctly. The oversize 8 fits snugly with 5' on each side but the extra size on the 9 makes a little renovation necessary.

I'm also not knocking Diamond, I have no clue about the material at all and in a photo blown up that much... it's probably barely noticeable in real life unless Diamond is now making rail sights in a 5" version. 🤣 It might slightly annoy me but I think a black sharpie would clear my mind rather quickly. I'm a fan of wood anyway.

I'm pretty sure he is referring to the Olhausen Anniversary table they released for their 30th anniversary.

At least he has a complete table .
Much better than sending your rails to an infamous person who runs a rail-ponzi scheme .
Jeesh come on man. He knows the BS I went through to get my Olhausen playing decent, he was in on the thread where I was asking questions. He wasn't knocking me, just knew the headache I had to go through.

Joey's ok, he just likes talking out his other set of lips. And yes, I remember helping you on your Olhausen😁

Here's the problem, everyone on AZB was already taking part in this conversation, and chastised Diamond, with all kinds of assumptions about what Diamond should do....IF they were an honorable company, and SHOULD stand behind their product....bla bla bla. YET, no one even took the time to inform DIAMOND that there was a problem, why is that? Why did Diamond have to find out on AZB FIRST, and not the customer? See, the problem, DIAMOND can't react as fast as AZB members can act, to knock DIAMOND, BERFOR Diamond even gets the chance to address the situation, and find out what happend in the first place!!!!
I actually think it was quite the opposite. The responses were nearly all positive in the belief that Diamond, or whoever their representative is in this case, would make good in short order. Mistakes happen, and I don't believe anyone has lost faith in Diamonds products. The bulk of the misguided discussion revolved around who should be held accountable for manufacturing flaws, and why those flaws weren't acceptable in the first place. Comical really...

I also don't think the OP did anything wrong with posting about his new table here when he did so. I have no clue if he contacted Heath first or whoever. He simply inquired to the probably the largest pool of Diamond owners that would respond in timely fashion, as whether or not the condition of his table is 'normal'. The fact remains there shouldn't be any onus on him to sweep the condition of the table under the rug till Diamond has an opprotunity to reach out to him, assuming they will. He earned the right to post those pics here 10,000 times over imo.

Other than some really bad PR by the self appointed. I don't think this has been very negative at all.

If you found a colour match blem on the black bezel of your new $10k TV, would you be ok with touching it up with a sharpie...?

I agree. When I can figure out how to get some extra room, there is a diamond 9-foot professional in my future. Or maybe a nice used gold crown. Whether it be new or used, I really don't care. But if I shell that much cash for a new one, it better be near perfect. If I buy used, then I will expect it to have some flaws. Just like with anything else used.

I wish I had the disposable income to state the same. Unfortunately I have to apply reason to my luxury purchases, and I simply can't allot 10k to a flat surface with 4 walls and 6 holes. Nothing to do with Diamond or any other manufacturer. Just my cheap ass....lol

Oh... yeah... that's right.... I'm a cheap, American Heritage lover too.

Everyone??? Calm down buddy. Like 1% of the forum contributed to this thread, and plenty of us DIDN'T chastise diamond. Hyperbole much???

I spend significantly more than 10k on a curvy surface with only 3 holes. I feel the pain.

I'm still scratching my butt trying to figure out where the world's foremost expert on all things pool table related thinks they are finding paper that isn't made out of wood!

Mine cost me a cool quarter million!

LOL. Waiting for the day they use hemp. Could be significantly better then paper or wood! Hemp is an amazing material.

I don't know how much of the cheer leading I have read about hemp is true but if only a portion of it is true it is handy stuff. Some of our founding fathers grew it, the rope was used for ship's rigging and many other things. Seems like they knew of other uses even back then. Today, supposedly paper could be made out of it freeing up much of the acreage in pine trees today.

Hemp has grown wild in the midwest since WWII when it was planted as part of the war effort. Some friends heard of this in the sixties. I tried to explain to them that pot was hemp but not all hemp was pot. Smoking hemp just gives a nasty headache! Ditches full of free pot were too tempting and they tore up from South Louisiana to one of the midwestern states, I forget which now. Crammed the trunk of one of those old big cars full of hemp and got back home with it. They told me I was right!

Not in favor of legalizing pot for recreational use but legalizing hemp should have some benefits.

It could be said that hemp helped win ww2. Used for countless things...
Parachute cord, rope, clothing, boot laces, etc etc.

New uses are hemp oil (very good for the heart and arteries), paper, toilet paper, and even silk.
Someone was developing building materials out of the fibers. Some type of fiber board that was stronger then strand board, or MDF. With all the uses that could be had, and the fact it grows so damn fast, we wouldn't need to cut down trees for anything but fine furniture.

Indiana grew a lot in the 40's. They call it Indiana Ditch weed. State tried to eradicate it for decades.... cant do it... they gave up.
