Conditions to participate in the upcoming U.S. Open

,,, When you look at Matchroom-Multisport as a whole, they list Pool and Snooker at the bottom of their sport offerings on their website. What comes first well… Basketball, Boxing, Darts, Fishing, Golf, Gymnastics, Netball, Ping Pong, Pool, Snooker, Ten-Pen, and Poker.

Any sound marketer knows there is a hierarchy to what one presents and you can see where pool really ranks in that order. That’s smart business - nothing wrong with that. ...
er ... alphabetical order

“Ambiguous”? I would say! Ambiguity has it’s own special place in the legal world. I would not want to spend resources trying to hold someone to this language.
I'm not a lawyer, but I slept with one last night. And the night before. She laughed and wouldn't even respond when I showed her this. All she would say was, "you don't even like to play 9 ball, but go play and see how it winds up for them."

Then she mentioned it looked like I wrote that ridiculous non compete. I would argue but she's right.

I initially thought the same thing, but found Poker DFL (Dead F#$king Last), so it doesn't look to be alphabetical...
i think it’s more likely that it was a lazy site designer that that tacked it on at the end. I doubt matchroom would make their priority list public like that.

Otherwise, what is the likelihood that it aligns perfectly with the alphabet (except poker of course). Besides, snooker is a bigger money maker than pool at this time I’m sure.

If that's the case then Poker would be before Pool.
Right, poker seems to be misplaced. 11 out of 12 alphabetically. But I certainly doubt that the sports are listed in the order of their importance to Matchroom.

Sure it can. Those have been canceled. Or as Griff's posted: "have been postponed until further notice."
Where has it been announced that these events have been postponed? I can't seem to find that information anywhere.

Its on Griff's FB page, July 23rd. Postponed til further notice.
Thank you. That's too bad. They are still listed on the tournament calendar here, and no annoucement was made on this site. I think having four pro tournaments back to back in Vegas is a bit of overkill anyway. I'd like to see the Diamond Ten Ball and the World Ten Ball be successful though. I recommended them both to Dennis and told him he would have ample time to get from Vegas to Atlantic City for the U.S. Open 9-Ball. The World Ten Ball ends on Sept. 10 and the U.S. Open starts on Sept. 13.

Mark is trying his best to accomodate other events. Hats off to him for his trying to push the game.

True, those first two conflicted with the tournament at Skinny Bob's in Texas that most of the top players would be going to anyway. It has nothing to do with the "conditions" set forth in the OP.

This just in, 32 minutes ago as of the time of this post.

Emily Frazer posted in response to folks questioning the 12.1 rule.

I wish they would've said that in the first place.

So now I take it Pat Fleming's gig is in the crosshairs?

So is the intent to protect against potential future rival US Opens? Or are they concerned about the international open? Do they have a similar clause about world 9 ball “like” tournaments?

Its just a name. Pat could call it the 'Virginia Beach Classic' for all i care. People come because of him and his crew.

Interesting how quickly she corrected this. I suspect she was the one who wrote the original as well.
I agree. Would you take this to mean that any open 9-ball event in the US would qualify as being under Matchroom's review should a player sign and compete in the "US Open Pool Championship?"

Boy.... I think that would be stretching the law a bunch. "Open" obviously refers to "unrestricted". And if they somehow make that stick, just change the names to "Invitational". And make it clear that EVERYONE is invited!
