What else is Matchroom's fault...??

I went 2 and out in the tournament I was in this weekend. Damn Matchroom. Why do they gotta get me double goose eggs? Would it have hurt them to let me be in the winner's side for at least one game?

Earl needed more opportunities to make his presence known.

Having only Americans in the commentary booth was unsettling to me. Though I really liked the commentary by Niels, Kelly, Phil, et al., especially game strategies, I was upset hearing about the Europeans, their history in pool, their backgrounds, how they are so good at everything and Americans are weak and can't win because, well, they're no good. Good grief, man! Many of those European players flocked over here to compete in our events a couple decades ago. In fact, some of them still live here. America can't be all that bad.

I say all this because an American in the booth is mandatory if they're going to talk Europe, Europe, Europe and how great Europe is all the time. I'm not talking about the caliber of play, I am referring to the backgrounds of the players. Those European commentators don't know the backgrounds of some of our American players or what sets them apart. So what do they do? Between talking about game and layout strategy, they talk about European pool and its players. If Matchroom wants us to pay for DAZN to watch pool, they should give us equal time in the commentary booth by having an American. In fact, sjm (Stu) was there on-site. He's knowledgeable enough to have stepped in for a match or two.

I know this is the Mosconi Cup, the MMA of pool, but when those European players start twisting their hands to the audience right before they shoot the money ball or start pounding on their chest as a gorilla or wave their hands up and down like a bird to get the audience revved up when an American is down on a shot, that ruined my Mosconi Cup viewership experience. And what's worse—and I hope I am wrong—I heard someone on Facebook in a video say that that noise made when players called "extension" was the audience mocking Shane Van Boening's voice when he talks because of his hearing impairment. F*** You, European audience.

And what is a vice captain supposed to do? Why do they need vice captains? I don't get it.

As far as Emily's leather pants, well, I guess as the saying goes, if you've got it, flaunt it. She does quite a good job of that. :giggle:
Aren't you the one who always harps on about "Euro-robots" who show no emotion when they play? When they do, all of a sudden that's bad. Being partisan for the sake of it must get old.

The players on the table get talked about more.

It's a show, get over it.

he's harping on about misses forever, with a negative, bitter attitude. he's the same in snooker. maybe even worse in snooker coming to think about it.

mcmullan is informed, provides good background info and has a better attitude. i'm guessing travel expenses and covid regulations kept them from flying in nick schulman.

feijen was great, fischer was good too. i don't agree any of them was partisan, it's just that when one team is having most of the table time they naturally get talked about more.
Agree about Yates. I don't know why they insist on keeping this guy in the booth? Usually I can find something good about every commentator, but listening to this guy makes me angry. Maybe that is his appeal, getting on peoples nerves to get them to rally behind the players? Sometimes I just mute the sound whenever this guy is talking. However, the good people at Matchroom still deliver an outstanding product, year after year. Hats off to them, Yates or no Yates, they put pool in the spotlight and make it watchable for just about anyone.

Leyman being employed, the horrible cloth, the absurd striped 9 ball, overserving drunk british folk, Earl being picked in the first place, not providing a free stream here in 'Merica and making us pull up pirated Sky streams out of France, Russia, and points unknown, the horrible commentary of that one windbag, and not enough air time of Emily's leather pants.

Pool took one step forward and ten steps backward with regard to its image and production. Just can’t seem to crawl out of its image as a subculture of misfits and street bums. The only positive is the players themselves and the fact they wore uniforms with their shirttails tucked in.

I've deleted my post. When I saw who originated this thread and then liked your post, I realized that it is useless to contribute my thoughts. No matter what they are, they will be flamed by a select few. Have a nice day!

I've never used the "ignore" feature in my life. I guess it works for some.

It is a shame that people who do enjoy pool can't seem to communicate on a forum without the insults and mean-spirited posts. It's kind of not my cup of tea. I am capable, though, of reading without using an "ignore" function.

Enjoy your experience on AzBilliards Discussion Forum.

Aw, shucks. Did you have to edit your post to add the remark about Keith and the Oklahoma City debacle? That train left the station a while back.

What happened has already been made public. Out of respect for the Shaws and the pool room owner, it may be best to stop discussing it on social media.

Allowing American to put up a weak team and building it up like they can actually win.
What about the back-to-back wins just a couple yrs back? Was that MR's doing too? There's no denying they have input but not to the the extent you're saying. Shane and JJ wanted Earl this year is what i've heard from more than a few sources and MR is all about the entertaiment value. Well, til Earl torpedoed himself.

Conspiracy is...it never happened.

"Flamed", really? I justed pointed out the truth. Many times in the past you have belittled the European players for being boring and uncharismatic. I thought they played to the crowd a lot this time. That's what you want for a spectacle such as this. In a World Pool Championship, maybe not, but for this kind of event I thought they behaved fine. It's time someone stood up for the European players on this forum, for a change. I would happily remove my post if you proved that I have misrepresented your behaviour on this forum. I believe you used the litteral word "robots" for the European players numerous times in the past. I can't even search the forum for these posts, since you've done something with your profile to make it impossible, and the search function doesn't work well, anyway. But who cares, you know it's true, I know it's true, that's all that matters.

I don't like these confrontational posts much, but painting me and others as some sort of bullies for pointing out this rather blatant hypocrisy will not stand.

Her little indignant butthurt act got old a long time ago. I agree with every word in this post.

THE reason the USA lost to the Euro Team in a nutshell is...

USA sucked more than the Euro team sucked! That is my take on it...LOL!

So we need a different ref, set of balls, and cloth color. We also need more drunken Americans, new commentator and Earl, but only if he wears leather pants! 😎
The drunken Americans can offset that drunk clown that chants Eeeeeerrrrrrrroouuuurrrrrr - rrrooopppppeeeeeeee after every game Team Europe wins, or after any Team America player misses. I'd say about a dozen would offset him!
Sukkks that Earl didn't play,.. I would want my money back.

No, 'Merica can't match the Euroholes.
