Are there any videos of Dr Dave playing in a match or league setting on YouTube ?

Sadly these questions always seem to come up about instructors. What's the Fargo rate? How many major tournament wins? What Dr. Dave has given free to the pool world is unmatched by any freakin' body. That he sells videos? Not for nothing but his videos are produced to the highest quality and are top of the line in subject matter too. While I have plenty of his videos, I hope to attend a Dr.Dave workshop too. Yeah, I'm a fan, I don't care if SVB can beat him up.

He plays some in this video that I thought was pretty strong. Just finishing up your book, Dave and my mind was blown by that nugget on page 235 using the stun off the rail for shape on the two. Thanks for all you do!

I'm glad you like my stuff.

I look forward to meeting you at a future BU Boot Camp. Our July, 2022 Overview Course is already full, but there are still spots open in the Advanced Course. We also plan to offer two Overview Courses in October since the demand has been so high. If you are others are interested, PM me your email address and I'll contact you as soon as we announce the next dates so you can have first dibs at the spots.

Thanks.

Knowing when to stun or roll into the rail is also very important when playing kick-and-stick (or not) safeties.

Thanks for all you do!

You're welcome. I aim to swerve. 🤓

I am a professional instructor, not a professional player. There is a big difference. I do not play anywhere near the level required, nor am I willing to put in the amount of time required to do so. I'm also too old. Regardless, I appreciate the votes of confidence.
I've mentioned before that you deserve to be inducted into the "Billiard Congress Hall of Fame" simply for your generous
contribution to the sport and especially to this forum.
The amount of top quality, instructional video available free on YouTube is above and beyond being generous, and deserves recognition.
I'm 68 and retired on disability in 2014, and started watching your YouTube channel.
I've been playing for 55 years and I've learned more in a few months of your videos than I did in 55 years of playing.
Thanks for all you do Dr. Dave.

I have watched Dr Dave play in competition. Dave knows his way around the table very well.
I"m sure it's hard to play good pool and be a video icon at the same time.

You guys are going to make my head big if you don't stop. ☺️

Seriously, I really appreciate the sentiments. I am also happy to hear that people find my stuff useful.

I wish I knew you were watching. I might have tried harder to use better technique. ;)

I am sure the same can be said for you, being such a famous and respected instructor. I've seen you teach, and I can also vouch that you also "know your way around the table."

Years ago I was a member of the Society of Actuaries and they used this quote from the English philosopher and polymath John Ruskin as their motto:

The work of science is to substitute facts for appearances and demonstrations for impressions.

Dr. Dave does this for pool, admirably.

The Illustrated Principles of Pool and Billiards? I see it was published in 2004. Is it still relevant?

Absolutely brilliant point

Fatboy Approved

I joke with Dr D about the Fatboy Approved thing, as it’s not 100% serious, but it’s not a joke either. It does mean something based on almost my 40 years of pool(37 in the pool rooms globally). So it’s not just humor.

In this case I mean it with full support and sincerity. Dr D has helped others, discovered, worked countless hours on pool and taught the pool community so much. If that’s not HOF what is?

Let’s get a petition, ballot, something!

Happy 2022!!

Fatboy😀

Thanks Fatboy! I really appreciate your sentiments.

Dr. Dave approved! 🤓

Happy New Year!!!

Actually, to use an analogy in an entirely different sports venue, pro golfers rely on using instructors.
And these instructors are seldom former professional golfers that competed and won tournaments.

There are always exceptions but by and large the top name pro golf instructors are very knowledgeable.
Dave Leadbetter, Hank Haney, Peter Kostis never played pro golf. Butch Harmon only won 1 tournament.

To be an instructor requires knowledge & the ability to impart, to effectively communicate it to the student.
This requires conciseness, ability to articulate what occurs and why & talent to visually illustrate by example.

Dr. Dave is obviously a humble person but any of us that have played for awhile recognize a truly great pool stroke.
Like Vinny’s break in The Color of Money, it commands your attention. That’s Dr. Dave’s pool stroke…it’s top shelf.

He might not enter a tournament and win it but he’ll put a lot of players out much earlier than himself. And I betcha
when he is old enough, he could successfully compete and win on a Senior Circuit. He should play 10 ball or 8 ball.
Pro players have too much dominance with the opening break in 9 ball competition. Dave needs a chance to shoot.

Again, thank for the kind remarks from you and others. I appreciate it.
