Dennis Orcullo banned from USA for five years

Jay’s story made total sense of what happened, and why it happened.

Bottom line is the person who is responsible for Dennis being banned from USA for five years is Dennis.

He should be happy he was only banned from the USA for five years, and allowed to return home.

Had this happen in many other countriesvhe could have been a long term guest in some other countries prision for s as long time.
You must not travel much

Bottom line is ignorance is no excuse. It’s like speeding where there are photo radar camera, and bitching about getting photo radar ticket in mail.

Same as during cross country on a New Mexico license, then breaking some local traffic law in South Dakota. Tell the cop you were not aware of their State law.

As Cop hand you ticket he or she might say tell the judge, my job is citing law breakers.
What exactly is your major malfunction? I don’t see anyone implying he didn’t make a mistake. The “bottom line” is - there are no details and you are simply speculating and babbling random opinions about one of the top pros in the industry with zero first hand knowledge of the circumstances. I’m not sure, but I’m pretty sure Dennis and no one else around here cares about your proclamations or sympathies.

Jeez man, give it a rest.

That's what we used to think about poker, then they shut us all down and threw people in jail.
Most places that i know of that had trouble were in states that had or got casinos. They don't like competition for sucker's $$. Here in Okla. after they(the state) signed a pact with the tribes they went full-tilt boogie on all the poker games. I've been at a bunch of events that had $40,000+ calcuttas and not once did anything happen.

Federal Agencies are short on man power, but if your sort of game offers a return on investment of time. Well let’s say the good time will be over.

The more money involved the more interest there is in enforcing laws. It’s called return on investment of resources.

No interest in busting some $5.00 a set local game, but if your talking about snatching 100k the Locals & Feds will be all ears.

Now you’re an expert in federal/state gambling & tax laws also. Amazing. Your clown avatar is probably one of the most appropriate ones around here.

Very disappointing news, as Dennis has long been one of my favorite players to watch.

That said, if he didn't break the rules, I'm sure he can get it fixed by an attorney. If he did, and there were no extenuating circumstances, such as illness or bereavement, any trouble that comes his way is on him.

I would rather an exception be made here, but if Dennis has violated the terms of his being permitted in the United States, he has done this to himself, and you can bet your last dollar that he knew the exact terms of his visa. Customs laws concerning immigration and visas need to be enforced rigidly as doing so is a matter of national security.

I hope it turns out that Dennis didn't break the rules, but it seems unlikely at this point. Guess we'll see. Hoping for the best.
One day with covid and flight cancelations ....

Seems very unjust to me.

Why violate for one day?

If you are going to break the law it would be alot more than one stinking day....

Jay posted what he personally found out by going to LAX seeking Dennis, did you read what Jay wrote?

If not, do read, if you read, and can not comprehend return to school.

Dennis was apparently inbound, but apparently violated his last stay, so was refused entry, and told your welcome to return to USA in five years.

Dennis should be happy he was not locked up, just told return home, your band from USA five years.

In Los Angeles home poker games get almost zero heat. I was in a poker house(good neighborhood 5000 sq ft) about 3 years ago-coke, whores, 3 tables full ring going full blast, chef in the kitchen. The big game was PLO 100/200 small game was NLH 10/20 I don’t recall the middle size game. It was decorated like a casino. They got popped after 3 years. But they were doing too much.

It’s possible to run a weekly game here in LA once a week for any stakes you like and not get popped in a house. Even the cigar store has a game in the open 5/10 usually.

Flip side is if you put poker machines in a bar, pool room game over in a week you’ll get popped HARD.

Funny how some places poker draws heat and in others it doesn’t. There’s home games in LA 7 nights a week.

And good luck finding a pool game for $50 without giving up the nuts. Stupid place to live actually

Holy shit man, you really aren't blasting someone on their reading comprehension. There's no way you're that disassociated. Absolutely unreal.

Not true, he's out of his mind most of the time.
Honestly I go easy on him. 10 years ago he was pretty cool. I think age has kicked in.

I noticed that after being gone from here for 7 years. People change. I fixed my writing a bit. Cowboy got mad. Who knows? In any event I don’t wish bad on him. I hope he finds happiness and peace

Best

How do we know he left just one day late when he returned to the Phils prior to trying to come back this time?

I didn't read that in Jay's story unless I missed it. Which is possible.

If he was just a day late due to flights or covid prior to leaving would have been the best time to clear that up. Not trying to re enter.

People who try and follow the rules are always the low hanging fruit for USCIS to get tough with.

My wife has a couple of relatives back in PI I would love to get here to work in my auto shop but alas, we don't want poor people is our official position unless they are refugees or fake refugees. Then they can have entire congressional districts.

This has been standard practice for years with ICE. In the US on a work or student visa and miss a deadline? Bye.

This ridiculousness is why ICE needs to be circumcised.

A number of people plon this very forum complain about "illegals" but will also complain that their buddies at ICE booted a pool player.

Hopefully he can get it sorted but they typically don't appeal visa violations

Follow the Law.

Everybody coming in knows when their visa expires.

Is there a record of him trying to obtain an extension?
