Predator sneaky Pete’s ain’t no sneaky pete

Someone asked above about who made the Budweiser sneaky. It was Eric Crisp. Hilarious idea, top end cue with those decals.

It’s not decals. It’s actually a cored Budweiser cue. That’s what I was told when I got it. All I know is it feels great. Like all of them I’ve had.

My father had one just like it in the 90’s but it was red. That cue was junk, he won it at a raffle though. It stayed on the wall rack at home. But I could see changing things about the cue, mainly the shaft. It would become great. I kind of wish I knew what happened to it, I’d try putting a different shaft on it.

Why tf is predator coming out with a “sneaky Pete” series but they have joints? I thought sneaky Pete’s were supposed to have hidden wood to wood joints so you couldn’t tell the difference from a bar cue? Or am I missing something here? Are we just labeling everything as sneaky Pete now?
Unfortunately, Predator dismantled the sneaky pete defintion some 20 years ago when they introduced their SS-collared “Sneaky Pete.” In case you thought they were just now coming out with it. It was a big discussion… in 2000.

I agree, I've said this many times! A Sneaky Pete should be as close to a house cue as possible, weather or not you're actually trying to be sneaky with it. I've always wanted one, and I recently bought a locally made cue that I really like. It's probably made converted from a house cue but feels great. I'm certainly not trying to fool anyone, but I appreciate the simple design.

Yes I know they’ve been doing it for a long time. I just came across the next line up of them and this discussion popped in my head and I’ve just joined AZbilliards not long ago, so I wanted to see others input.

I think it's become just a design over the last few decades, one I like. Butt and joint collars are fine if you like them. Anyone who gambles with someone based on it looking like they pull a cue off the wall needs gambling lessons.

There isn't a whole lot of sneaking up on anybody any more , that died in the 60s. Even if you do creep up on someone , everybody has a 12 dollar limit for losses for the day at pool . They can lose 1000 playing cards or scratch offs , but at pool 12 dollars is a huge score.

and the down side of having a sneaky pete is you risk going to take a leak and having to look for who grabbed your cue to break with.

But to pay respects to the original idea of it. They should keep it simple or not call them sneaky Pete’s.

Idk about the $12 limit. Last month a was playing a guy for $100 a game. There was no sneaking into that one though. We both knew each other’s skill.

Ten years ago I bought a Predator "sneaky" the SP4RW. It's semi sneaky with a wood to wood joint and 4 point wrapless. The semi part is a white Hoppe ring and fairly low key red/black veneers. Overall pretty dull. It's my most used cue, which kind of pisses me off. Most of my other cues cost a lot more. I have to stop buying.

Mr piper, is it the Mcdermott M 11B? They even have a fat butt, very sneaky. I have one of those, it's very nice.

My first SP cue was made for me by Billy Saunders after I seen how well the one he made for his brother Lance hit a ball I was hooked .
Lance and I both nicknamed our cues Billy Buska's I'll still bring it out every once in a while just for old times sake .
I also added a older Predator SP without a joint collar to the collection yes it hits a ball rather well it's just not the same as the original Billy cue . RIP Billy I still think of the fun days we had way back then .

My uncle still has a sneaky Pete. Wood to wood joint looks exactly like a bar cue. But the shaft is cored and it has a good tip on it. He said he’s had it since the 70’s. Might be the same thing. I’ll ask him next time I’m over at his place who made it. He’s in illinois.
The shaft isn't cored at all

That I know
