Incorrect! Dennis never over stayed his visa! Garczar got it right in his post #5. It was a decision based solely on the descretion and judgement of a Homeland Security officer. They have a lot of leeway in making these calls and it can vary from entry point to entry point.
Initially the report from most (possibly even from you at first?), was that he had overstayed a visa deadline, many saying by a day. The website below is an example saying he had overstayed the visa expiration. I apparently never did make it back to the Orcullo thread to continue reading after this latest information came out. Thanks for the update. What was Dennis' previous visa violation/s for, this exact same thing, or if not, for what?

The term 'overstay' is a generic term for visa problems. It can be overstaying your current visit or it can mean a 'total time allowed' violation which is what DO ran into this time.

I got that. And it seems we finally figured out what kind of overstay problem he had this time. Hopefully Jay can help out with how many and exactly which kind of visa violation/s it was that he had last time/s, the exact same one on that occasion/s too, or what kind that time/s?

Here was an update from Roy…

“Update:

D💎D was detained for 27 hours at LAX airport and was sent home. When Dennis suffered being deported and handed a 5 year ban, I had a feeling that he was already in the system to be questioned on his next flight back to the US. I warned DD that he is probably in their system too and awaiting for his flight back to the US. I tried to warn him that he might suffer the same faith at the port of entry. After a few conversations, he decided to take his chance. He explained to me that if I think he is in the system already and flagged, taking a break and still coming in a few months later won’t make any difference and there is nothing for him in the Philippines to support his family. I completely understand his decision. The day of his entry to the US (Feb. 1), before he approached the Customs, he called me and we even practice what he would say if they pull him aside for questioning and the paper he got why he is traveling to the US (which worked for him several times before). I wished him good luck and not to get nervous. 3 hours after and we haven’t heard from him. Now we starting to worry and hour after hour pass by. The moment of truth, his wife Jackie called me around after 9 hrs that we haven’t heard from DD, he was given one phone call and for two minutes only then they will take his phone again and will never see it until he lands back in the Philippines. Jackie called me and gave me the devastating news. He suffered the same faith Dennis did. Homeland Security made their visas not valid anymore and gave them a 5 year travel ban to the US. D💎D fought a good fight, he was detained for 27 total hours before he was sent back. They were doing the tactics of starving you unless you agree to what they accusing you of doing and sign the paper. Hour after hours of just water and crackers. DD mentioned they were already waiting for him and he got pull aside right away and put in a big room full of visitors from all over the world. That time mostly Europeans mostly athletes and artists. They were all being questioned about the same thing, why do you folks frequent the US soil with a tourist visa. How many times you guys visit the Washington monument or Statue of Liberty. DD was ready for all these questionings but they kept taking him in to another level of questionings and they have made up their mind that none of them won’t be leaving the room without admitting to what they were being accused of and signing the citation paper. DD even jokingly mentioned while this ordeal was happening, he friended a mix martial artist from Brazil fighting here in the UFC. At this time, they were handing out instant noodle, DD ate one and his newly found friend ate 8😂. DD fought up a good fight but he said they just won’t give up until they find something and they did which is why I want to tell this to everybody who shoots pool here in the US and frequenting here using tourist visa. Both DD and Dennis never violated any over staying. They were given 6 month visa every time they enter in the US and not once they went over. Now since they frequent the US, they were asked what are they doing here. When both were known for being cue artists, they were asked if on there taxable winnings if they were paying their taxes here in the US. With Dennis, he was paying his taxes with the help of two person filing it for him every year. With DD, we pay his obligation taxes every year through Roy’s Basement since his first visit here. At this time, Homeland Security pulled for the last thing they got in the hat. They were both issued a citation, tourist visa taken away, and a 5 year ban for using a wrong visa, while being in the US. They even said it’s ok to shoot pool in the US as your occupation as long as you use the right visa type (athlete’s or working).

The Bottom Line:

The Homeland Security is cracking down on all frequent visitors of the USA using tourist visas. All port of entries are doing this. They will Google and Facebook search your name to find out what you been doing here in the US. Like I said, DD said he was in a big room with visitors from all over the world (mostly Europeans). All were deported and banned for the same reason. I felt like I have to inform everybody and not just the cue artists.

This is Roy of Roy’s Basement signing off temporarily😔

Well it about time DHS, Customs Service, and BorderPatrolmstsrted cracking down on rules breakers.

This is what local Motorcycle Cops do evety
Morning, and being during commute. Drive 5 mph over Speedlimit, you get stopped, ticketed, unless the Cops is busy writing someone else.

Locals know, but some still get caught because they forgot. Out of town visitor are most often victimize.

Another Pool player deported, or told your not welcome.

Believe it or not the USA is not big bad wolf, this happen all over World daily, people being turn away from entering countries.

Sure the Philippines does it also, keep undesirables out.

Seems that "tourist" visas are for "tourists".

How novel!

Who would have thunk it?

If pool is your "work", wouldn't someone think they may need a visa that was more aligned to the purpose for which they came?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you plan on getting a Work Visa for the U.S., don't you need your potential employer to file a petition that needs to approved by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) beforehand? How does that for work if you're basically self employed?

Shouldn't they apply for a P-1 athlete Visa instead of a B-1? https://www.visapro.com/resources/article/us-visa-for-athletes/
For a B-1 visa, this part - the foreign team and players’ income and salaries are principally earned in the foreign country - might not work out since they make most of their money in the U.S.

So when all the Asian and European pool players come to compete in a major pool event in the USA, they must get a sports visa or work visa? If so, somebody should spread the news before it happens to the European gang in particular, e.g., Fedor, Fillers, Kaci, He, Alex Kazakis, Albin, the two Spain guys. Speaking of Alex, how does this work with Alex Pagulayan from Canada/Philippines?

They all know the drill. They come here a lot. I think Alex has dual citizenship. Still needs a visa regardless.

From the "outside" perspective, being a lowly new & restored table hustler and fixer, lol.

I am just learning about the tournament / money match section of our industry. Being a College educated person, I have never seen such business practices accepted as "normal" as I have with pool. IMO These are a few of the reasons it is laughed at as a sport: obvious illegal visa usage(tourist visa while working) + illegal gambling + foreign Military service avoidance(this one is new, thanks Diamond for showing everyone a new scam!) +( IMO )most likely, none of cash from gambling is getting taxed = Pool as a Professional sport is a JOKE in the USA.

The TSA does the same. My wife almost didn't make it out of Hawaii due to a micro-tyrant blue shirt at the airport threatening her after she dared to ask about a gate number. She cried about it when she finally got home.

They are almost all mini-control freaks and will control freak when they feel like it.

Passports are relatively new to the world, btw.

Coco you really are a moron at times. Have you followed ANY of these visa threads????? For the LAST time so READ closely: There are NO set rules/regs. pertaining to how often you can return to the states. Tourist visa's are good for 10yrs and you can stay for six mos. at a time. The problem is there is NO set rule on how quickly you can return after going home. Its TOTALLY up to each individ. immig. agent. Total bullshit. If you can't/don't understand the lunacy of this then there's little hope for you.

Problem with the so-called 'illegal visa usage' is that there are no set rules on how often you can return. Also, where did you read that Aranas was dodging military service? I must have missed that somewhere.

Point is people entering the USA, or other countries are guests.

Recall going to Canada with 18 wheeler with Cat Tractir Part.

Tractor was searched for Cigarettes, Firearms, ad Drugs. Then that ran my CDL, asked House why.

He said on DUI, or too many traffic tickets, and you could not enter Canada.

I was in and out in less then two hours, hate their narrow roads.

Canada has rules.
