Cue Castration has been committed....
No wonder the cue has trouble making a ball. Penis envy!

I have and it changed the hit dramatically! Turned it into a sponge if you ask me. Almost wobbly. I prefer the rear extension. In my opinion, that's the way to go.For those playing with 60"+ cues, have you tried a mid-cue extension? A mid-cue extension (between the butt and shaft) would keep the cue from getting too butt heavy. What are the downsides of a mid-cue extension? Is there more deflection? Why did you decide on a rear extension/longer cue instead of a mid-cue extension?
I have an old standard length butt with a Jacoby Hybrid Edge 30 inch shaft which make my cue 59 inches total. SO I decided to add a mid cue balance rite extension which adds four inches to the cue bringing the total length to 63 inches. For those playing with 60"+ cues, have you tried a mid-cue extension? Deflection is caused primarily/almost solely by the mass (weight) in the first six inches or so of the tip end of the shaft, so a mid or rear cue extension should have essentially no meaningful effect on deflection. What a mid or read extension would do (aside from making the cue longer and heavier obviously) is shift the balance point of the cue, although there are some pretty light ones now that make this much less of an issue than it used to be. I don't have much first hand experience to relate on the following, but some people have apparently found that they prefer a different balance point anyway once the cue is lengthened, and some apparently grip the cue in a little different place as well when using an extension. For those playing with 60"+ cues, have you tried a mid-cue extension? Great products. I have a 3" RR extension on my Mezz. With bolt out and ext on the cue is 61" and right at 20oz. Love it.Just had Rick Roper make me a couple of short 3" rear extensions to go with the 6 and 8 inch we already had. They are very light, 1.6 oz, but had him lighten one of them up more by the bumper portion for my wife's cue as her cue is not capable of altering the weight bolt lighter. So that lighter one is only 1.4 oz. While I had made a short wood extension, shown in earlier posting, the problem with that was it was permanently attached and couldn't be removed if needed. Should have them in a few days.
Can you order a rear extension in any diameter that you want so as to provide a smooth transition between the butt of the cue and the extension?Just had Rick Roper make me a couple of short 3" rear extensions to go with the 6 and 8 inch we already had. Fast turnaround, and a willingness to accommodate your special requests as I had about lightening up the bumper section.
I remember watching accu-stats match from when SVB was still playing with an R360 in which Jay Helfert (or Bob Jewett) asked about the extension SVB had begun using. Ken said he believed it had improved Shane's game by half a ball.It feels good at the start and it has some benefits like you feel the hand is going straight + you could draw easier with less power. However, in the grand scheme of things, I think the negative outweighs the positive. I feel that they really believe that this longer cue is benefiting them and it's true they believe this which has some psychological effect added with the advantage that I've told previously which is true BUT in reality, they would do better in the normal length cue.
Jayson used to have better results with his Meucci normal length cue.
Shane used to have better results with his older Cuetec normal length cue.
Earl used to have better results with his normal length cue "Cuetec".
Most other guys who use normal length cues are doing better, Albin, Filler, and a lot of the rest.
Some players who used to be using the extension in the butt have removed them and seem to be performing better.
Check stats.
The end of the butt of a cue can range from 1.20-1.30 inches (and even thinner or fatter than that), so how is it that the same extension can be used on a 1.20 butt and a 1.30 butt and the transition is only a few thousandths? No, the extension is what it is, but the adapter that replaces your bumper on the cue is sized for a perfect match. You just give him your measurement when ordering. Your are only talking a few thousandths one way or another for the extension.
