Taom Chalk

My Pyro is down to just above the paper and it’s exhibiting the same occasional soft dust specs/flakes as well.

Generally the Pyro was never as clean as the V10 has proven, but it was still the cleanest chalk I ever used by a considerable margin. Kamui Roku is also clean but nothing like Taom.

I’d say my Pyro is about a year old.

On the one hand, I get it - years ago when I first heard about Kamui, I laughed when I heard the price. Said not a chance I would ever pay that for a single piece of chalk. Well someone made the exact same point as you - I had a fancy case, thousands of dollars worth of cues including shafts I never even used, and all kinds of other stuff taking up room and I'm worried about $30? Kinda funny looking back on it.

Like I've said many times in this thread - on someone else's table or in a pool hall, whatever (I still think it works better so I will use it everywhere), but on my home table? To me it is worth even more than double the selling price IMO.

You say it will last several months, I think that's awfully conservative - I can't see me getting through a piece in less than a year and a half. I used a Pyro from the first week in August until the first week in February when I got my V10 and it still looks brand new, and I was chalking every shot. With the V10 I'm chalking once/rack. Thinking it'll last close to 2 years.

Pic is a brand new Pyro on the left, and the one I used for 6 months on the right (chalking pretty much every shot)

Here's what's left of my Pyro after ~9 months. You can see from the chalk on my fingers that's more dusty than a new cylinder.

So should I not order the Konllen chalk? They make three versions.

To be honest, you don't need one with Taom. I just keep mine in my pocket. I hate keeping chalk on the table, but for the blue chalks which can be rather messy, chalk pouches are fantastic.

My first use of the Taom V10, I chalked up and put it on the table. It literally "disappeared" while I was playing.

As in "disappeared", are you saying you think someone nicked it? Or did it just roll off the table frame? Taom's pretty pricey and not a lot of people use it in a public setting, from what I've seen.

Where did you buy it from ? I looked and couldn’t find a place to give a discount on buying multiple pieces…so I paid full price for all my pieces

One or the other. I looked all over. Under the table, etc. It was either stolen, or rolled off and ended up in a pocket.
 
When Jayson Shaw set a new record in the 14-1 world , it made me set up and take notice. Then came the statement was that he was using the Toam chalk. I never used anything but the Masters for over 50 years. After reading more posts here on this forum about how much cleaner it was compared to the Masters, that was when I decided to give it a go. The chalk compared to Masters is about the same when using the product. I did have to adjust a bit ,but the diff is negligible it that regard. Only thing that really made me make the switch, is that my table at home was so much cleaner and didn't need to be brushed or vacuumed as often and my hands were so clean after 3 hours of play that there was hardly any difference between when play started and ended. In the rooms that I frequent I use the Masters because it's not going to make any difference. The balls still play the same , I can still run out a little even at an older age, but running my hand over a table in a room that takes care of the cloth will still give up chalk stains, which is no big deal either. On my home table it's the new chalk, else where it's what's available. 2 cents issued again
