Buying Diamonds at tournament's

Gold Crowns can be great. No one is denying that. I'm pretty sure most of us here enjoy BOTH tables. You're being singled out because you keep referring to Diamonds as over rated and shitty tables.
He's too dense to figure that one out.

What all of you fail to understand is the difference in functionality vs design.
The ProAm and Smart tables were not designed to win any beauty contest, that's not their function!

There single purpose function was to be portable, to be loaded up, transported, unloaded, rolled in, flipped down, leveled and ready to play!

The second requirement of its functionality was to play as good, or better than the competition!

One might say Diamonds are the prettiest ugly duck on the pond, but make no mistake, they're the ONLY duck on that pond as well.

All the tables mentioned, couldn't hold a candle to Diamonds functionality, as Predator just found out, getting 2 black eyes and kicked in the balls trying to swim in Diamond's pond with their HOME STYLE 9ft! They have a lot to learn, maybe they will, maybe they won't, time will tell.

And for the GC admirers on here, how many of you bought your GCs NEW? How many of you got a basement bargain price on a used GC which is why you bought it?
Take all the talked about 9fts right now, Predator, Rasson, Gold Crown, Diamond ProAm all are around $10K by the time you're ready to break that first rack of balls.

Change you mind after a month, and try selling that 9ft😅🤣😂 all of you lost at least 50% of your purchase price, except the person who bought the Diamond!!!!
Want an example? I'm picking up 8 9ft Diamond ProAms, used, and selling them for the customer for what he bought them for, 4 years ago, so he's not out a penny on them!!

Can ANY of you say that about ANY OTHER POOL TABLE ON THE PLANET being built today?

Don't compare Diamonds in a beauty contest, compare what YOU think is the best table built against what the DIAMOND was designed to do, and see if YOUR pick still holds up!!
I completely get where you are coming from in terms of the functionality but most that have tables here on AZB aren’t carting up their ProAm and taking it to a buddy’s house. Diamonds play great but as you also pointed out, they fail in aesthetics. Most people that have tables at home want them to look appealing and play appealing. In a home environment, an old Gold Crown can be made to play every bit as good as a ProAm for less that half the cost. My table is proof of that. I wouldn’t buy any table new. For the most part top of the line commercial tables like Gold Crowns can last a lifetime. Why buy new when you can buy used and make it look and play as good or better than new at a fraction of the cost? To each their own, I guess. I will say, if I were a tournament promoter I’d want ProAm’s vs all others for my event.

I couldn't agree with you more and I love gold crown, love rebuilding them too, but I hate working on them in a commercial environment!!!

Maybe to you, but certainly not to everyone. I would say the looks of a table are not "irrelevant" to the vast majority of people who do buy a table.

The importance of looks vs playability will certainly vary from one person to the next, but to categorically say the look of a table is irrelevant is utter nonsense.
Ok, I was a bit harsh and early in the morning for me when I posted.
I should have not been so broad.
Let me expand on what I said, what I meant..

Looks don't matter that much to a pool player.
They might to a banger, casual type of player.
Or a venue, wanting a table to suit a decor.
However, at some stage those last two groups still want the table to play well to avoid frustration or patrons not putting coins in as the table is horrible. Still works for drunks who don't care.

Take the Predator table, looked nice, flush pockets and very sleek.
Looked good on TV as well in Vegas. Then, played like a crazy golf course...
That sticks in people's mind, and I would say trumps looks when people are shelling out their hard earned money.
But you're right, a lot of people just go off of looks and end up with something they like looking at more than playing.

Its a funny old World.

Same here but I'm a bit biased.

As classic and cool as it gets. More than cool. It’s Frozen

Like I aways say at the grocery store check out counter...

Sir, would you like paper or plastic bags?

Me; plastic will do, I can get the plastic bags now, I'm divorced, my wife use to hate them!

Clerk; oh really, whys that?

Me; because all my ex wife did was complain about not being able to breath through them!!😅🤣😂

I couldn't disagree with you more. Good players can't have nice things and an eye for design? Asinine post.

Looks awesome, plays better and I'm a player.

Function and fashion definitely matter. When I got the GC4 (1998) my wife remarked it’s the nicest piece of furniture in the house. The look is timeless. It is modern art… and yours takes it to a higher level.

I've never been a huge fan of the look of some of the Gold Crowns but that's personal preference. I really don't like the look of the Rassons either doesn't effect how they play though.

Yes but paper rocks. Ever have a double bagger? Ugly cannot show through twin bags.

Yeah - I'm also in NB. In Moncton there are 0 snooker tables for the public to play on. In the province there might be a few.

Also never saw a 7' around here. First time I ever saw one was at the BCA in Vegas. Thought they were kid's tables :)
Good. Our nonviolent takeover is progressing nicely.

Moronic reply.👎. I ask question, and Glenn flips.❓

Even misquoting me, nice try. Your a great ambassador Diamond billiards, and sales killer.

Like I said what’s all the hype about, apparently you do not know.

My take is Diamond are pretty, like Ferrari, but who want to pay threw nose for tune up. To drive head turner.
Sorry, unless somebody qualified tweaks a gold crown, the quality of play on it is light years different from the current diamonds.

On the shite side.

Do you not understand the value that perfectly cut angles add to a table?

Did you know the Brunswick people cut their cushions with a machete? Drunk. With one eye closed. And I think they do pcp. And hit kittens.
My GC4 was all over the place. Each pocket had its own dimension. Were cut with a bread knife.
