WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

Hard working, nail biting final rack. Great finish by Kazakis.
Yeah, the shot by Kazakis at double hill to make the four and play about twelve feet of shape to the short side of the five ball was one of the best shots of the entire event. I was watching at home but I still gave him a standing ovation. Great match!

That last game exemplified why 9-Ball is such a good game for tournament pool. It had a little bit of everything, good safety play combined with strategic thinking, along with some good shot making and position play by Kazakis to win the last rack. He had to make a little tester on the nine ball to win. A lesser player might have dogged that shot.

For those who say winner breaks is not fair, let me remind you of the way the major tournaments used to be played. I'm talking about Straight Pool, where you might sit in your chair for an hour or more while your opponent runs 100+ balls. And you may not even get to the table! How fair is that? In a Race to Eleven both players will have opportunities to take control of the match. The one who handles those opportunities the best will win the match. After a player has strung together a few racks and his opponent comes to the table, he is under pressure to produce or fall further behind. This makes for exciting pool imo. You will see just as many close matches in this format as in alternate breaks, and the twists and turns along the way make it just that much more interesting for pool fans. JMHO as always.

Anyone know what size pockets they are using? I'm assuming 4.25?

yes, 4.25.

i think in the world pool masters it was 4 inch corners and 4.25 sides. i firmly believe that with the level of elite pool right now that's what's needed

According to some on here and some of the table manufacturers the smallest they go for side pocket is 4.75.

How do they only get like 12 people to show up to these events? I mean come on. It’s not being held in a basement in Qatar anymore, they should be able to find a few more people to come watch in person.
Is it really that empty? Maybe chairs up close are VIP and they’re all at the bar! 🍻

tbh i had never heard of the city of milton keynes before snooker covid tournaments. i guess it's an inexpensive location for matchroom compared to london

Now they basically had to tap the racking area on T2 in order to fix the golden break issue

Did they shut off the stream for table 2? I wanted to watch the shenanigans they’re doing to the table over there but can’t seem to find the stream now.

What’s going on in the Lechner match? The YouTube stream is off and the Table 1 commentators are saying they’re working on the table over there.

It's about to resume. Please read post #395
Background sounds from T1 show the players are trying some breaks to see if it is better now.
