Funny observation about league players

You assume something, you know nothing about, or detail of my life.

Make you look stupid, pretending to know, what you do not know.

Next time consult Magic 8 Ball.🤣
I know what you posted and that wasn't a healthy meal or enough sleep😛

I would love to play on a pool hall only league. IF I am going to play in a bar, I want to pick it. Leagues have put me in places I would not have chosen under any circumstances.
Made me chuckle. Reminded me of hearing about a team captain who talked a strip bar into sponsorship. Evidently, they had a good win percentage when playing at home...

Well when you get home late, no time to cook, you eat what you can. Sleep is problem, with arthritis in my back, knees, ankles, and feet.

Think you think you a physician, do you have your sheep skin? In Medicine?

I’m the captain of my own ship. Nobody tells me where, when or what in life. Unless it’s the IRS or some authoritative thing. My free time is mine-I’m gonna waste how I see fit.

I love a good pun. Few things better.

I might start up in a league again. Although half the time I felt put upon when I had to show up somewhere. It’s good for me to have some kind of anchor and it was fun sometimes. A different kind of pressure with the team thing, something pretty foreign to me

Here is your choice night on the town with Nancy Pelosi she pays, and will do anything🤣, or Pool League Night in Dive Bar.

Pick your choice

Yeah, I know. The league I play in is pretty casual and the guys on the team are chill but it's hard to shake the feeling that I'm letting them down when I lose. Some days I cannot get loose, which makes me more uptight. It's damn death spiral.

I wish I had a dollar for every "A" player that sandbagged and lost on purpose to go to the losers side in dbl elim tourney play. They do it for 2 reasons. First, they drop to play an "easier" crowd, and 2nd, it puts them under more pressure to win.
OR
They play the semi-pro and lose only to gain some nugget of knowledge/strategy to play them again in the final once they come through the 1 loss side.
Ask yourself: How many times do you see a good player lose the hot seat match only to come back through the 1-loss side and win the whole tourney??

Your "B" player playing the "A" crowd is truly playing to win.
neither of those reasons make any sense to me at all, once you lose once every match is sudden death from then on.

Well as you age your body plays game with you, like Tuesday I spend that late afternoon, and until almost midnight in ED of Local Hospital.

No Dinner, Very uncomfortable Chair, did not get home until almost midnight. Dinner was at 0030 Wednesday, two Tortillas, with some Cheeze, Hot Sause, and a Beer. Got maybe four hour of sleep before Sun woke me up. Tried going to play pool Wednesday afternoon, felt like Zombie in Walking Dead.

Now it Friday still not 100%, so I sure would have hated to have to do something really important. Maybe tommarow might feel normal.
I'm in a Sunday 8 ball league that starts at 2PM. If both teams agree you can play earlier. I've seen some play at 11 or 12. It's a nice relaxing day, even starting at 2, it's over by 6 even if the games turn into safety fests. By Sunday afternoon I've had a chance to rest up from the week or the late pool night on Friday. A little pool, a relaxing evening and plenty easy to go to bed early for work in the morning.

One thing I can say for leagues. They bring a lot more money into an establishment which, in turn, allows that establishment to better maintain their tables, offering better equipment for both league players and non-league patrons alike. And, yes, I have seen the exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Although that's the case for some it doesn't always work out that way. My local dive bar (my favorite place to play pool in town) has some Global tables and one diamond. She had the local Diamond rep approach her and she decided to stick with her Global tables. Her reasoning - she didn't want a bunch of stuck up pool players coming in and not spending money. Her clientele come in and play pool, eat their food, watch sports, etc. League players come in, have a few drinks, then go home.

I 100% believe she makes way more money off of her regulars.

That's why I mentioned exceptions being a reality. In my town, our biggest pool hall had to close during the pandemic and they lost so much money they wouldn't have been able to re-open except for the leagues. They have league every day of the week and the players come from miles around. Mostly APA, but they also have BCA, SLAPP, and some dart league in the back. They also have a super 9 ball tournament twice a year that brings in dozens of big names from around the country and other countries. This helps out also.

Yep, we have a couple of those places also. The local hall is generally so busy on league nights it's crazy. And recently most of the APA teams have moved to that bar because they have a ton of new Diamonds - both 7 and 9 footers.

Some bars just work well for leagues and some don't.

And for future reference ED is erectile dysfunction. ER is the emergency room. 😉
TO be fair to Coco, many hospitals refer to it as ED (Emergency Department)

I play in a small competitive APA league of 8-9 teams. The highest FR in our league is 660-ish. There is usually little to no drama involved. I started the team because I got tired of playing beer league softball, and I enjoy the team aspect of competition. I like the pressure of playing for a bigger cause than individual reward.

Although my team has survived a split, and several new players here and there, my original core of 4 have been together for almost 6 years.
