How do you go about suing a cue builder? Just want to get my cue back.

I know he has many cue orders that have not been delivered and maybe never will be. I don't nessessaraly.believe a lot of the stories about never returning cues.

This original poster has not said a word since starting this thread. A very few insodents that may have happened over the years for one reason or another are probably long resolved.

I asked a while back how many unreturned cues does he have with no answers. Where are all these agreaved people? I'm beginning to think their problem has been taken care of. This whole thing may be moot.

Why don't you call Dennis yourself? Or ask the OP, Cuemaster98? Or send the OP a pm asking him privately?

Is Dennis holding one of your cues hostage? And your hoping that by supporting him it might help your own situation? Just speculating honestly. I hope you don't for your sake!

As I stated before I gave up on Dennis years ago when it became obvious to me I was just getting the run around from him. So he has not changed a bit and this thread is evidence of that...

Really, $20. Tips? He builds $7500.00+ cues. He built one for coach Pat Riley for $25,000. Repairs are almost a waste of time. If he does any face to face repairs it is because he likes the company I guess, not for the money.
Jason, who seems to represent that he has a close relationship with Dennis said that the daily customers coming for repairs and to hang out are what pays his bills. I could see that being true. Repairs can be easily accomplished and extremely lucrative. Dennis probably asks more than the average bear just to change a tip, which might take him 10 minutes. Stay busy for a day....making a few hundred an hour doing quick repairs is a nice return on your time. Then build the $25K cues in your down-time, when the hangers on have gone, then sell your tips. Not a bad year's work. His only fault, from what I've seen, is the lack of communication. He needs to dedicate an hour each day to answering emails - updating customers. He doesn't have to write a book. Just a quick response. Similar to how Laurie from SW CUES operates. This would save him a ton of heartache.

I always answer emails and texts the same way
"Just a quick note to let you know I got your email/text, will get back to you as soon as I have time".
People unless it is really importand don't mind waiting, I know when it is really important. They just want to know you even saw it. I try to respond in almost real time. It only takes a few seconds. Very few people ever call, it's always email or text.

I just the other day sent a text to a gunsmith I like. He got right back, (and I know he is very busy) saying to text exactly what I want and he will get back to me soon, and I did and he did. Truth is always best even if it is not what you want to hear. Turned out he could not help me but pointed me in the right direction. The worst thing he could have done would have been not tell me the truth.

That telling people what they want to hear is a kind of cowardice. It says either you don't respect the person enough to be honest with them, or you are afraid they will get mad so you use a lie to duck the whole situation hoping it will go away. Either way you have started something that at some point will have to be resolved. In effect you have created a problem where one did not need to exist.

Not with players . They like to kick tires for HOURS during the day .
Dennis can easily make $10K a month more on merry widows if he didn't have an avalanche of players coming in daily. Easily .

Perhaps Dennis should find a way to schedule repairs and lock the door when necessary. Or hire an apprentice or two. There are all sorts of ways to prioritize one's time personally and professionally. Maybe consider a business consultant.

Or maybe he just doesn't give a shot!

Learn to use parahraphs and spacing

Learn not to talk out of your a$$. Anybody that doesn't think I use paragraphs and spacing is in serious need of remedial grammar classes to learn what they are because they obviously don't have a clue.

I didn't consider these were players coming in. In my mind's eye I imagined old rich guys farting around with expensive cues wanting this and that done....and to drink coffee and listen to Dennis pontificate while he worked....meanwhile raking in a nice return.

Here is the bottom line. I'm sure he's an honest guy. He's the best of the best at what he does so he's going to do what he wants. I'm sure he intends on fulfilling all of his commitments as he is able. I guess you have to fly down and talk to him if you want a timely update because he doesn't answer his phone or emails....or you have to get lucky. I know a dude on here (and I won't say his name, and he hasn't commented in this thread) who talked Dennis into somehow grafting him into the lineup and made him a cue within a year'ish (maybe 2?) of their first conversation. This guy has such a great personality that I wasn't surprised. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

cuemaster98, Howdy;

This has been running awhile now, if you haven't found the kernel of corn that
suites you, just make an appointment and go have a sit down talk with a 'for real'
Lawyer. They will explain the process and how much it's going to cost you.

I've periodically viewed this thread so IF it's been mentioned B4...
If that cuemaker gets hounded too much, he just might say SCREW IT ALL, THIS AIN'T WORTH IT and stop everything cue related and do something else.

an honest person does not lie. simple as that.

if he has lied to you then he is dishonest. and i would not do any business with a person who is dishonest as i cant trust anything he says or does.

if he hasnt lied about anything then he is just a bad business person and i dont do business with bad business people. although they may not be dishonest.

but once you ask for your cue back and if a person wont return it then he becomes a thief in my book. your decision about that may be different.

The number of interactions and conversations that I had with this builder had been very positive over years.....I'm not sure why he's not returning my calls or texts but hopefully, I can catch up with him if he attends the expo to find out why. I would love to get the cue back just to be able to play with it but with limited time and opportunity cost...I'll be patient and wait. I'm not mad or have any ill will toward this builder, as it stands I don't know what I don't know given the shit show we all went through with the pandemics. Thanks to those of you that have tried to help with my recovery process and really appreciate your time and effort.
