Cue Master Pool School will be having our next Pool School at Champion Billiards on 2 and 3 July 2022. This is two days of intensive work on your stroke and pool game. If you are stuck and can’t seem to get better, miss shots you “know“ you should make, or lose to players that you “should” be beating, Pool School might be for you.

Information will be on our web page shortly. Price is $895 with $100 off early bird special until 10 June. Seating is limited so make sure you get your seat reserved.

Bump to the front. Class is filling quickly and early bird pricing ends 11 June. Check our web page, Cuemaster-poolschool.com and our YouTube channel, Cue Master Pool School for more information.

Is this different than a guy selling a cues or equipment/ merch?
For sale section?
What say you?
Yeah it is different
cues can be available for a long time
this is truly a limited time offer
so to give it its most exposure it’s appropriate to put it in the main forum

Plus Mark Finkelstein is among the best instructors in the country he is entitled to get the slack he deserves

It's really isn't any different when it comes down to it I don't think. This particular ad will run for about 1.5 months. A substantial portion of cues sell within 1.5 months.

Also, your argument is essentially that this ad should be allowed because it is a short time offer. So what about the cue sales where they say if it doesn't sell within 1.5 months they are taking it off the market? What about if someone says they are going to sell their cue within 1.5 months to whoever gave the best offer if they haven't gotten their asking price by then? Both those types of sales already happen and are indeed limited time offers, so should they be allowed in the main forum as well since they are limited time offers? What about when a cue maker offers leather wraps at a special price for the next 1.5 months? Or what about if a production cue maker offers a discount on a certain cue model or all their cue models for the next 1.5 months? There are tons and tons of other limited time sales or services offers as well so this one isn't actually special in that regard at all and is just one of many. Not the end of the world to me one way or the other, just pointing out that I don't think the limited time offer argument holds up.

It could also be argued that in some sense even open ended cue sales are a more limited time thing than this as well. Yes, when the dates for this particular pool school pass it will be gone, but he will be having another soon enough and there will be lots more available after that too, and one could also go directly to the instructor at any time to set something up for whenever you wanted so his services are actually there available indefinitely with this ad helping in general for all of them into the future. On the other hand when a cue is gone it is truly gone--not so easy to "catch up with it next time" when it comes to a cue.

I think this is really where your stance is coming from and it wasn't really about how limited in time the offer was, that is just the excuse to try to make it sound half justified to yourself or others. Sounds like maybe you just really like the guy or instructors in general and so you want to see him/them get some special treatment and have an exception made. Fair enough but you have to admit it's a slippery slope to be playing on.

i can see your point of view
but we will have to agree to disagree that pool school is different than pool cues/cases etc with regard to what section of the site they should be advertised on
and yes
i am of the opinion that mark finklestein is a helluva person/player/instructor
but even if instructors i do not have high regard for wanted to promote a pool school in the mian forum i would have no problem with that

I have just asked Mike the moderator where I should post these announcements. In the past years I have always posted here, as others have, without anyone getting their panties in a bunch. As soon as Mike tells me where I should post these notices, I will.

This is an announcement for a class/seminar and I do not sell any cues or merchandise. I’m not sure I get what the problem is, but I really appreciate all the attention! THANK YOU!

I would lean towards this being ok on the main forum. If it becomes a problem with too many of them, I can setup a subforum for them. I think it would be great if there were tons of these sort of things all across the country.

I didn't mean any disrespect by it. From all accounts you are very good at what you do. You also come across as a very nice man.

I was thinking to myself, is the main forum is the place for such ads? I believe any person in the industry like Trent, Renfro, magic chalk guy, big truck ppv's, etc. Would love to post new stuff they have in the main forum for the exposure, yet they don't.

This is a discussion forum and the topic you posted was relevant.

No ill will. Just wanted to see others thoughts on the topic.

I wish you the very best.

I'm all for stuff like this... but do you have a link to your credentials? You mentioned putting info on our webpage, what's the link to it?

...I mean if that's not a requirement, then I'm gonna hold a pool school too.
