CSI dumps Diamond for Predator tables

I would be surprised in Diamond Billiards is genuinely worried about this development. If nothing else, maybe this might decrease the lead time it takes one to get a Diamond table once ordered.
Pool halls were not open during COVID lockdown, so home tables orders are driving the demand. I was told Diamond is at capacity, and supply side issues, which is why it's taking up to 9 months.

If anyone in near the NYC area is looking for a used 7' Diamond. Gotham Billiards has one forsale for $2500 including lights.

Same system as a K-steel. Diamonds are very easy to level and don't require jumping thru hoops just to get the frame square. I've yet to hear one positive thing about SAM tables from a mechanic that's actually worked on one. They play ok but too much of a pia.
I have put a work with SAM tables multiple times and they need a lot of work compared to Diamond tables. BUT so do ALL other brands... When you compare to Diamonds. Rassons example have like 1000 small screws and washers when you install fresh one.

Have you played on any of the Predator branded tables yet, not Kim steel.
no but they can't be a ton different. cushions could be different which is really all that would make it different. construction is the same. i doubt i ever will play on one. the SAM's i played on yrs back played just fine. they're just a pia to get set-up right. at currently quoted prices i don't know why anyone would choose this Pred table over a D'mond.

I would if the cushions bounced like a GC and not like a Diamond. There are probably lots of people like me. Setting up for tournament play is one thing. Yes, Diamond has the clear advantage for that. Setting up for home play it doesn't matter too much if its more difficult. Its only done once.

Gotham is a nice room with Blue Label Diamonds

Give predator time. Karim said in the interview with molina Mike that they went with Sam Billiards because they make the best Carom tables and they tried to use materials that are the highest quality from where they can get them no parts from china.

I'm interested to see the 7 footer as he said it will have a ball return and it is quiet. He said the 9 foot is drop pocket only right now.

I used to not be a fan of predator but Karim says the right things. He wants the pros to have the best equipment and a professional tour. If this is the start of that it's great for the sport.

It's kind of funny that he's talking about no parts from China. I understood alot of their cue were made in China ? Maybe I was misinformed.

Competition is a good thing. With that said Diamond will continue to have a waiting list. Predator will sale these to hard core fans of the logo that have the coin. Everyone else dropping that much $$$ will be going the diamond route for the most part or rebuilding a high end GC etc. Pool halls will continue to buy diamonds. Predator has priced themselves out of the market. If these were the same price as a black wolf for example that would be another story for the ball banger at home.

That's why I believe the company (Valley) has stagnated. They need some leadership with a little bit of vision to get on the crest of this wave . With the current growth we have, it would behoove them to try to get a piece of that market.

And they really aren't just a bar/club market. There are many pool halls that are loaded with Valley tables. One within 10 minutes of me right now. Of course this is a hall that caters more to league players. We may not like it, and I certainly don't like it, but pool halls loaded with 9 ft tables are pretty much a thing of the past. I've learned to try to live with it.
I have not seen this latest table in the wild:

Has anyone here played on it?

Is it that different or just a new set of clothes on top?

I think you will see more Rasson tables than Predator. Rasson will make any pocket size you want as well as Diamond does where Predator only offers one size only.

Interesting. Looks butt ugly to me, but appears they have at least tried to finally give some attention to flush pocket castings.

Whats with all the cats in pool table marketing? Top Cat, Black Cat, Panther, Predator… I’m a cat & dog guy myself, so works for me - just an observation. 🤣✌️

From Calley website...
"...looks unlike any other Valley table, but has the ease of serviceability and maintenance exactly like other Valley tables".

It's the Same basic design with electronic paying system and fancy rails.

So, mutton dressed as lamb.

Wonder where RKC is that he has not chimed in. I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
No need to beat a dead horse. The single BIGGEST problem Predator is facing, and has completely overlooked, is they have NO distribution network, and absolutely NO "after the sale" network support! I guarantee you, the table hacks working in this industry will destroy these 9ft Predator tables FASTER than Predator can bring them into this country, because Predator has seriously over looked, and over estimated the table mechanics skills😅🤣😂

Diamond has been fighting these very same problems for the last 22 years that I've been working with them, and its still almost a loosing battle.

On top of all that, just like Diamond has the abilities to produce tables fast enough to be only 30 days back ordered, that production ability is challenged by being able to get slate, cushions, and cloth! All of which is out of their control!!! And Predator is facing the same damn problems!!!
