that was my exact reaction. but raga has gotten his fargo score playing quite locally, east asia and mainly PI. i don't know what that translates to when on the big stage in the US

also noted that mr. blyler is back to exact revenge on mr. filler.
There is no translation issue there. Having only 850 games is the biggest source of uncertainty for him.

All of us who watched Raga come within a single rack of winning the China Open against Wu in the final knows he's got the pedigree to win anything. Nonetheless, to expect Raga to have an instant return to form after the pandemic removed him from international competition for quite a while is probably unrealistic. Still, it would make for quite a story.

you don't believe that some players perform worse outside their home country? or when playing on the matchroom stage?

Sorry. I agree with you. I thought you were saying something different. I'm not particularly worried about Raga in this regard, though. Here is his record against opponents over 780 while playing thousands of miles from home where he likely doesn't speak the local language.

My gosh there is a lot of dead money in there.
I never understand the point of "dead money" comments. Sure there are many high fargo players who are expected to finish strong, but anyone can get on a hot streak and go deep.

Plus the "dead money" people contribute to the prize fund and have the courage to play against top level players. Sometimes you play well enough to win, sometimes you're simply gaining experience. Either way can be advantageous to progress your game.

I like this post. Still, what you seem to be saying is that there's nothing wrong with being dead money, as a) you gain valuable experience, b) you get to measure your game against the elite, and c) it's an exciting experience to compete with the best.

Anyone can get on a run and go deep? Probably not. I'll predict that nobody with Fargo less than 750 finishes in the top 16.

those are still neighboring countries. i hope to be proven wrong, but may impression of raga is that he so far has preferred to be a big fish in a small pond. i have no doubt he is a massive talent, but it's been kind of wasted playing "safe" money matches against (mainly mid-tier) compatriots on bucket star tables.

Hi Mike,

Do you have any recent results from Zheng? I recall he was at the very top of the Fargo list a few years ago then disappeared.

I’d bet dollars to doughnuts most of the superstar Filipino’s would move to the USA and compete internationally at every major event if given the chance. It’s probably a case of he can’t travel frequently due to a host of various reasons.

Anyone else from AZB going to be in AC? - GJ

Nope.....good chance next year.
It's about 3K for cost to fly/N.J. then, hopper to A.City and back Plus, hotel weekend rates and food costs.
Bit too much till I get my WBT (www.worldbilliardtour.com) in cue.
I've got my second test event coming in Nov. and hopefully one more and then/maybe W. Coast at a casino/that I'm in the good with.
Bit bored, being retired, putting myself ''back to work''.
My WBT concept. Same as WPT world poker tour, but with pool.

I'll know by years end.

Best of luck with your project.
