How many balls have you pocketed?

Just thinking about another tread and Aiming systems about feel. The method of Hit A Million Balls has come up a lot.

It has me wondering how many balls have I actually pocketed in my life?

I mean I just don't want to saw a million balls that just pointless.

I've been playing again for about 6 months. I'm probably pocketing about 300 balls a day on average. Which is about nothing, versus me being in a pool hall for 12 hours a day in my twenties. In the last few months I've probably pocketed 54k balls

This week I sank more putts than balls. By the time I made it to Griffs I couldn't shoot straight to save my life. I can't imagine actually living in Vegas, I'd be even more useless if that possible.

300 a day doesn't sound like much, but it's a ton! I played last night against a good local player. Two sets of 9 ball races to nine, and one race to 5 (time restraints). I won 9-6, 9-7, and lost 4-5. that's 40 games of 9 ball. Assuming I made 60% of the balls, that's only 216 balls. We were playing for 3 hours.

I feel like I probably average maybe 5 racks of 10 ball at home per day, so 50 balls a day sounds about fair for me.

If I take 45 seconds between shots and I shoot for 90 min a day, 6 days a week, I will shot 720 balls week, 37,440 balls a year. In order to hit a million balls it will take me 26.7 years.

I use to play 12+ hours a day. Playing someone I'd probably do 50-60 an hour. Drills I'll probably do 200 and hour. Playing the ghost 100 an hour

Repetition builds consistency. That sounds great, and it's true. But, unfortunately, if an aspiring player is repeating more missed shots than successful shots, and not putting much time into evaluating the misses, then he or she isn't getting any better, at least not at a rate that would satisfy most people.

Improving your skills and developing a higher level of consistency doesn't really require hitting a million balls. It requires successful repetition of hitting a few thousand balls correctly, again and again and again.

It's not practice a shot till you make it. It's practice a shot till you can't miss it

Or at least until you're making it 80 to 90% of the time. The thing is, once you start pocketing more balls than you're missing, you automatically start using the power of repetition, meaning you begin to repeat more successful shots than unsuccessful shots, and that's when you start building consistency.

Back in January I racked a game of 9 ball on my home table. I broke the balls and I’ve made 3 of them. There’s still 6 left on the table. I’m hoping to get them in before Christmas but since deer season is open I may not make it.
The bigger question is how many balls have I missed?

Every bullseye is the result of 100 misses.
