Gosh, you might be right. I did not think about that. She could be winding him up, she does that.
Or, this is confirmed and he is going.
See how it pans out.
And so could you.Gosh, you might be right. I did not think about that.![]()
Hate to say this, but in 2022, Fedor's ineligibility to play in many of the majors made it impossible for him to earn an automatic spot onto Team Europe at the Mosconi and he was not chosen as a wild card. I hope we're not travelling down that road again in 2023. Given the difficult road he's had to travel of late, and the classy manner in which he's dealt with it, it's hard not to root for Fedor.Wonder if he is taking Fedor's spot (who.says he is banned from play in Poland).
This is not correct. The field is only partly invitational. I think a year ago, 64 players were assured of an invitation based on ranking. If my memory isn't failing me, and sometimes it does these days, for everyone else, it was first come first served. Actually, even if the event was an invitational from top to bottom, event producers always retain a few wild card spots (in post #18 in this thread, Bob Jewett indicates that it's eight spots) which they may assign as they please, and that's within WPA guidelines.I believe they have a criteria for invitationals such as the worlds to which Trump would not qualify,
it would diminish credibility to provide him a spot over an accomplished UK player
open tourney's are a different story

noted, thanksA number of invitations are handed out for the World Championship annually, with the top 100 in the nineball world rankings qualifying and the remaining 28 spots being either WPA or Matchroom invitees

Thanks, I didn't know the details for this year, but I'm good with this methodology for invitations.A number of invitations are handed out for the World Championship annually, with the top 100 in the nineball world rankings qualifying and the remaining 28 spots being either WPA or Matchroom invitees
Yes, he's in the Derby. He told me as much when we chatted at Turning Stone.Agreed 100%. I don't know the intricacies of international sanctions, but perhaps things will be easier for him once his green card goes through later this year and he has U.S. permanent residence status. I think he is playing in the Derby at least.
Here is what seems to be the applicable regulation from the WPA website:A number of invitations are handed out for the World Championship annually, with the top 100 in the nineball world rankings qualifying and the remaining 28 spots being either WPA or Matchroom invitees
Nice one Bob, thanks for sharing!
