Ronnie at his best is ridiculous indeed! A couple of his more fun runs for me, he had made one red or one red and the seven when he stopped a match to have them find out what a 147, maximum clearance, was worth. It seemed like it was usually 25,000 pounds or euros but some events Ronnie thought should have paid more only paid 10,000 for a 147. When it was confirmed to be what Ronnie thought it should be he completed his 147. Arrogance, confidence, ego, call it what you will, being confident of a maximum clearance after one or two balls is amazing!

The other time I remember because I found it funny. The event had indeed went "cheap" for a 147, only paying 10,000. Ronnie was shooting off a maximum but about halfway through when he could have easily shot a seven he shot a six instead then back to sevens for a run of 146! A hilarious thumbing of his nose I thought.

That indeed appears to be Michaela Tabb as the official, in her prime too!

No that is at least Ronnie's 3rd best.
I believe you.

This guy is endless talent. Imo of all players of all cue sports. He’s clearly #1 above everyone else. He has creativity, longevity, fire power, holds up under the lights, plays both handed, the list goes on & on.

I’m just glad I was around for it. I don’t think we’ll see another “Ronnie” in any other cue sport like he is for decades.

Fatboy😃

I think one commentator lamented that Ronnie had stolen the experience of seeing a 147 in person from the audience, but I think an intentional 146 would be a lot more memorable.

Yeah, I can't remember who all I have seen run a 147 on video, I tend to watch them as there was a few years I banged on a snooker table daily. I will never forget Ronnie is the one that ran the 146 to make a point. I am sure he would say that the people that cut the bonus were the ones that denied the crowd a 147.

The bonus is split between all 147's at an event. I have definitely seen two, I think I have seen three, so it wasn't so much about the money in Ronnie's pocket as what he felt was a principle. I don't think he ever complained about splitting a bonus.

Here is a link to the infamous 146. The shot on the six is near the six minute mark and when only a few reds were left. Never-the-less, with it easy to play shape on the seven after some great shots getting that far it was blatant when he shot the six! I would say he had planned to shoot the six from early in the run as he seemed to look at it several times earlier in the clearance. He also seemed to be enjoying the idea.

Here is a frame where Ronnie stops the match to check what a 147 pays after the first black. I think this is the match I was talking about, not positive. One thing for sure, rare to see as precise of shape on a bar table as he was playing on this twelve footer and he was firing balls in center pocket at a wicked pace.

I haven’t seen a 12’ snooker table for probably 30 years…I guess the last one was at Boca Billiards before that guy got whacked. I only shot on it a few times but remember the pockets being looser than the 10’ snooker table at my room, but it seemed like some shots were in the next zip code. To see these guys play like it’s a bar box is amazing. The wife is planning our summer trip right now, normally I just say yes to anything she suggests but I’m thinking a big table has to be in play.

Vafaei had a similar layout at The Masters. Knocked in a Break of 99 before missing an ultra thin cut on the blue.

For the snooker fans, a final between Judd Trump and Mark Allen is about to restart on matchroom.live. That may or may not take a subscription -- I pay $2 a month. Restart in 45 minutes.

Matchroom.live will also be carrying the Shootout shortly. That's a ranking event that's single-elimination, best of 1, and with a 10-minute time limit on each match that includes a brutal shot clock.
