I don't believe it has been mentioned so here is my take on the tighter pockets....
I believe Diamond has probably been getting more requests for the tighter pockets so it only makes biz sense to have them at the derby. Especially true if they sell those as dcc used tables.

... You get too big on that table, with that level of competition, and matches like this one would be too common  ...
Yeah, that match could have finished in a reasonable amount of time if that younger guy hadn't wasted a lot of time in the second game running 11 balls when he needed only 9.

I feel that the logical postscript to these incidents is to consider how those who pulled the all nighter on the Derby’s final day fared at the World Championships.

Four of the Fargo Top 20 pulled the Derby City all-nighter and they all had a disappointing result.

SVB , defending World Champion, bowed out in the round of 16.

Josf Filler, former Worl Champion, was eliminated in the Round of 64.

Jayson Shaw, defending International Open Champion, lost in the Round of 32.

Alex Pagulayan, former World Champion, bowed out in the Round of 32.

None of this is surprising, given the abuse the suffered at the Derby.

Wasn't there a Waffle House nearby? :sneaky:
In New Albany 13 minutes/9 miles from the Horseshoe by the entrance to the bridge to Louisville. That's the bridge approach in the background.

But that's going to be more or less an hour wasted if you go there for a meal as opposed to "dining" in the Casino. 13 minutes assumes you don't run into a coal train.

Hard to blame the Derby for Filler and Alex drawing each other. SVB and Shaw both lost on the hill.

I am not saying the Derby hangover was not relevant to their play I just wouldn't blame their complete performance on it.

Cheers,

Would it break anyone's heart if they did away with the Big Foot?

My recollction is that Greg started it to popularize 10' tables. I don't think that went too well.

Don't 'dis the WaffHouse. At 2am after drinking that shit qualifies as fine cuisine. I can almost taste a large stack w/sausage. ;)

Needs to be a full rack game. I like full rack rotation where only the last ball on the table counts.

Yeah, lets play an even slower game. That'll solve everything.
Well they play one pocket. Besides maybe you can go races to 5. The ten footer needs the whole rack to keep it from looking like 6 ball - which it does half the time.

i have no clue what you're talking about. the bigfoot is one of my favorite events. they just need to start it early on Fri. and get it over with quicker. i guess next you're gonna lobby for 14.1 on the 10ft? ;)

If there continues to be no limit on the number of entries, something has to give. Either add more days to the event, or trim something from the limited days available. Too much of the streaming was wasted on the Bigfoot, and half of those weren't even viewable. It isn't even part of the actual tournament.

Then add the time zone change into that equation.

Not 14.1 unless it's on a Chinese table. Full rack rotation on the 10 footer. No dumb points, last ball on the table is the only object per rack. Real pool, evolving strategy, shorten the sets.

10 foot table, 15 ball rotation, banks only, one handed, no bridges allowed, cue ball scratch only fouls. welcome to Hell.
