I only had 'take it'. Not eating some of everything served was not an option. Complaining meant double.

And I'm happy for the experience. I've been embarrassed when I've been around friends who complain at dinner parties.

I hate carrots cooked to mush like typically comes out of cans. Raw or gently steamed I like them OK fine. Something about that canned mush though...

At suppertime my older daughter is serving plates. She shovels a big spoon of carrots up to put on my plate. I looked at her, "Susan, we are having grits for breakfast and I am serving!" She hated grits as much as I hated carrots. She very carefully gave me two small slices of carrot!
