No, pool without two-way shots is not something I'd be willing to watch. There are far more offensive shots played with some consideration of where the cue ball and object ball will finish on a potential miss than misses that come with an unintended safety.Would you prefer safeties need to be called and any safety that results from a missed shot (good hit, no safety called), can be passed back to the original shooter?
Agree 100%.The market for jump cues is so large, we will not get the sponsors to promote rule changes that cut into their sales imo.
This event is a great test of stamina for the viewers. One thing I find confusing is that this event is treated by the commentators as if it were a great test of stamina. How can it be when on Days 1-7, one never plays more than three races to five in a single day? That's almost a day off for players of this caliber. Yes, Day 8 is a little tougher.
I dont see minor rules changes cutting into sales. Jump cues are here to stay, unfortunately. The market for jump cues is so large, we will not get the sponsors to promote rule changes that cut into their sales imo.
Or take a cue from baseball, and say you have to use a jump cue for a minimum of three straight shots. How about you can only change cues one time per turn.
Once you use the jumper you need to finish our turn with it.
The slow motion instant replays on table 1 are utterly annoying. Table 2 fine…obviously.PLP returns on Monday. Earl makes his debut in this Matchroom invitational. Also gatecrashing this boys party are 2 ladies Rita Chou (reigning world 9 ball/world 10 ball champion and reputedly best female money game player) and Seo Seoa.
I like that they change the format this year to simple round robin league of all 16 players on first few days. The format in previous years (i.e. adding new players and dropping bottom table players every day) was plain dumb
120 matches (on 2 tables) for first 5 days

Did he refuse to hug him?Pure class from FSR and pure ass from Shaw. Won’t even stand up to shake FSR’s hand when he wins and then says like 3 words in the interview after the match.
I watched parts of one or two matches, and 6 games of the final. It was tough to watch consistently. This event is a great test of stamina for the viewers.
That's a well-considered post. This is a very good event that needs tweaking. For starters, having four dead money players out of fifteen is far too many (Strickland, two ladies and a junior). Yes, they can all play but they are giving up 30-50 Fargo points in every match and can't possibly win many matches. They had a combined record of 15-45, about what one would expect, and they ensured that countless matches weren't competitive.I doubt the finished product here is exactly what Matchroom is looking for. The final finished with a big thud in my opinion. I watched quite a bit of this but I never really got into it.
I guess I really don't know what the point of the format is?
One thing I find very odd about this production was there were ZERO stats provided. That alone could have been the most interesting thing about all these races. Who missed the most pots? Who pocketed the most balls? Who was breaking the best and the hardest? Who actually played better than their record? Who had the worst luck? Just watching the matches doesn't give you enough of the story about how the players are performing.
You have to give us some stats!
Races to five can be exciting, but this format made them all seem like sparing practice.
I hope they stick with this because I think they need to have some variety in their tourneys or they will all just bleed into each other, but this format needs a little tweaking.
