Article on Jeanette Lee in Vogue Magazine

I was playing on tour during those days and nobody was jealous of her. That's a ridiculous statement for her to make. When a fellow player received attention, we were happy for them because it was also good for the game and for all the players.

Yeah. I figured that was just self-promotion when that was added to the ESPN story. Every story that is produced for TV today has to include some sort of sob story. I'm sure articles aren't much different.

I have friends that had their daughter try out, I think it was for American Ninja Warrior, and she made it to the final selection stage. Her parents were telling the story up until this point and then they paused, and I said "let me guess, she had to have a sob story." They looked at me in amazement. The producers basically told her and them she needed to come up with something. She wasn't on the show.

JL's story is inspirational enough without adding those unnecessary nuggets.

Consider the source and who she ran with. She was a gambler and the huggers around her pumped her ego beyond belief.

Fran, I remember often, the dynamics of the times and (jealousy of others, there was). I heard from other men, how the women pros interacted back then, as vividly as I do when I first saw this Young Asian woman at the Men's US Open in an ALL WHITE one-piece short pull over mini-skirt outfit, wrappin it around the top rails in the Dark practice room, never saw any other woman do this at the mens event. All women don't roll the same way or talk the same.
When I gave one of our female team members a back rub in the stands a day before play in Konigswinter, I think Peg said....do you also do fronts?
Men bash men, and vice a versa, life.

I remember the first time I ever saw JL it was in the early 90s at the Hollywood Athletic Club. The HAC was an upscale pool hall that was legendary if you lived in LA.

She waltzed in wearing hot pants, high heels and a trench coat. She made quite the entrance. She ended up playing one of the better regular players 9 ball and if I recall they broke even.

Is that your version of proof that women were jealous of her? Seriously? Or are you just bragging about an experience you had with some of the women players? Does that make you feel like an insider?

I think he is trying to say that Jeanette Lee's public relations team has been working very hard.

Does anyone know what Bobby Hunter is up to these days?
Just looked him up, as i often do when someone is mentioned here since I only know select names. Wow. I just had to mention the incredible cues. Not sure how I had never heard of him. If I was ever going to drop 13k on a cue I found the one. Sorry for the interruption

I never, never brag, I just am aware how the henhouse and the man house acts is all.
I'm one who spends every other month in a nude soak pool, and could care less about your unit, I enjoy the talks around the hot tub circle.
And if you dissected every word, I'm sure I'm flawed, like we all are.
Your proved, I was wrong when Daulton did what he and his backer did, but that took years to realize he was a good man, only because of you.
But we all know about men/women and life, we all have our borne prejudices and perceptions of right/wrong. And often we were wrong and right is all.
Peg is the best, and all the gals enjoyed the banter of the moment, Eva too.

Lightnet up, Bronx, and thx for your recent help.

That's exactly right ---Peg is the best and you painted a picture that made her look a bit lewd, so I felt the need to go to bat for her since she's not here. None of the women players were jealous of Jeanette. We didn't always agree with her tactics -- on and off the playing field, but there was no jealousy. To each his or her own --- and attention was good for the game.

That's NOT what I heard from some men.
Have a good summer.
It's all good, and peg can roll with anyone in good fun.
And in reality, it's probaby wasn't Peg, might of been Eva.
You'd have to ask them, they caught me off guard, it was a HUMOR's moment in time, which you're making it the opposite, they ALL laughed.

Another thing I realized is that I've not seen jealous people on tour in both men and women. I think that's because to get to that level to be competing professionally, you have to have a strong sense of self.

Didn't that burn to the ground and became Hollywood Billiards?

Wait, a group.of.women not jealous of a gorgeous young chick ( then) ?
How is that possible? 😂

Are you talking about some women or are you talking about women professional pool players? There's a difference. You don't think we got to the pro tour by being insecure, do you?
