Spanish Open, June 2023, from Matchroom

Sorry if this has been asked in the thread before, but is there a reason why Orcullo, Biado and some of the other high level phillipine players did not make this tournament? I'm surprised to see that LeeVan Corteza was not at this tournament.

Wow, what a turnaround- last 32 round threw the script out the door with many big name favorites eliminated
SVB , Shaw out.
Wu also out after being on hill 9-6 but Uski clawed back to win 10-9
Albin on verge of going out behind 6-9

Kaci, Filler playing their matches now
Only Big Ko and Gorst are thru to last 16

We will end up with at smallest number of big names (at most 5) in last 16 for a major event

Wu was lucky enough to get in picture with Poolmanis.. ;)

I get what you are saying, but a shot clock is needed, otherwise it can really drag. Also, determining slow play without a shot clock is somewhat arbitrary- at least the shot clock means everybody has to play under the same rules
I haven't seen a ticking shot clock in snooker and that game is way more complicated than 9 Ball. I actually think I could deal with slow play easily without a shot clock as an ongoing tourney director. Matchroom now has data. All they have to do is post the average shot times and let the slower players know they need to speed it up or they won't be invited to future tourneys!

There has to be a middle ground between the short shot clocks and no clock at all. The drama is found somewhere between those two.

Albin and Kaci through to last 16
Filler trying to stay afloat now down 5-8 to Gangflot

This last 16 will be the most diverse in a major. 15 different nationalities

I just watched younger Kaci play Tyler. He is definitely way faster than his older brother, when both are not on a shot clock. Its funny they walk the exact same:)

Who are the strongest Pro families? 3 Ko brothers, plus their father was a pro. Kaci brothers. Dominguez father and son. Spaeth father and son. Any others I missed?

They walk the same way though. 😂
Penguin walk.

There was a video bite of Efren and Bustmante playing 9 ball. One game took 20 minutes. Sometimes life isn't normal, if it always was it would be Extremely boring. I've played a rack of bar table 8 ball this past year, it took 1/2 hr against a Good player.

Very true. But guys like Albin play like that every single rack:)

Would think Ko brothers since 2 of the 3 are world champions.

This younger Kaci is a monster
I'm not convinced yet. Maybe he's just playing with no concerns or worries and just coasting at the moment. That's how it appears to me currently. I've seen the kinks. Hopefully Sky capitalizes and doesn't take him lightly like some have. It's no doubt he's an up and coming strong player, I just need to see more. Hopefully I don't get what I asked for this next match haha
