Fatboy Orange 5

To me, complaining about Matchroom events because you don't like the color of the five ball is the equivalent of complaining about a Mercedes Benz because you don't like the ashtray. To Fatboy's credit, he has toned it down a lot of late on this subject.
Only because he hasn't been on here. Anybody hear from him lately?

Don't fix it if it ain't broke! There was never any reason to change the color of the balls! The traditional ball colors have served us well for over a hundred years. Changing them only creates confusion and doubt within our sport.

Agreed. I loved it when she came on board and still think it's the best thing going - but I won't watch matchroom anymore. I know it's a ball and it's a color - but it goes much deeper than that. She knows people don't like and she's not changing it, in other words - she doesn't give a crap about what the viewers think and if that's how she wants to be then I don't have to watch.

Let's face it, there's probably not a single person in America who is pleased about the ball color change, but it's a small issue, not a big one. Yes, it was a mistake. After all, the four has been purple for a century. At this point, however, there aren't many who are complaining, and any suggestion that Matchroom is being defiant despite a significant outcry for reversion to the old colors in misinformed.

It's time to move on.

As much as I understand your stance, it's not mine.

i don't remember the same outcry when the 7-ball was teal colored at other promoters events for years. maybe the 5-ball is holier in some way..

sjm,, i know how much you think matchroom is advancing the sport and that is true.

dont end up their drummer boy as you are too respected here. im saying that in a nice way.

some businesses as well as some people when they become the dominant leaders in their field get the idea that it is my way or the hiway, along with a big head. many times the leaders seems to fade away.

tell us why we are misinformed as you say.

but when the general public feels like its getting spit in the face a business needs to stop and think about things and slow down.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE.

The reason I feel the way I do is that as somebody who attends nearly half of the Matchroom majors (I go to every US Open, UK Open and Mosconi Cup), I spend huge amounts of time chatting with both the fans and the players, and based on my observation alone, both players and fans are far less interested in this issue than they were when the color change was relatively new.

That's certainly not absolutely conclusive, but I'm sharing why I feel as I do.

Sometimes people lose interest if they believe a point is moot. It would be interesting to know if they support Matchroom changing the color back to orange or if they prefer to leave it as is.

Thank you for the insight. 😎
