Predator WPA World 8 Ball Championship 2023 (17-22 Oct 2023), Austria, Winner $75K

I think it is ball in hand behind the line on a scratched break. Chang vs. SVB.

Also open table after the break.

I think they need smaller pockets and/or longer sets.

There was a match in the late stages of the Reno IPT event. In a race to 13, it ended 13-12. However, in those 25 games, the breaker came back to the table for a second inning only once. All the other racks were either break-and-runs or the other player cleared up. Dry breaks were fatal. And that was with the supposedly stroke-testing "slow" napped cloth.
Thanks for the correction...I thought I saw the cue ball placed in the middle of the table after a scratch. I must have looked away and missed the first shot.

The bracket is also not following the format. The last 32 are supposed be a brand new draw, with 16 seeded based on WPA ranking. No weight given to winners/losers side of this individual event. The brackets show the latter. Lets see what really happens when down to 32 at stage 2.

The brackets don't make sense. See below.

IDK about big table 8 ball as being enough of a test fir these guys. Aleska Pecelj won 8 to 0 shooting 1000tpa. I'm a woodchuck and have broke and ran a 12 pack. I'd say this tournament is wide open.

That said it has a 300k payout. 75k to the winner which is alot in the pool world.

Kaci playing Wojciech Szewczyk next. He lost the world 10 ball to him and talked lots of shit, saying he got lucky. Should be a good one!

Yes, Szewczyk was lucky ... that Kaci mismanaged the double hill safety battle in the World 10-ball semis, ultimately whiffing on a fairly routine kick.

Did you see all the posts Kaci made after that? He was being shitty.

No, I don't use Facebook. He's very young so I'll give him a pass, but in the end it's best to hold yourself accountable for your mistakes and to learn from them.

Shane played one great set and one not great set on the TV table.

The set that Niels lost against Szolnoki is about the worst pool I've seen Niels play. Lot's of unexplained misses. Hoping he can shake it off - big fan of Niels and I'd like to see him take down a big one.

I see Mark White in the audience, but I haven't heard him commentating. He is my favorite non-pro high-energy commentator. Hope he comes on soon.

cos of smaller 96 Field, it is shrinking fast and furious. On Day 1 yesterday, 32 eliminated including
Van den berg, Hunter Lombardo, Denis Grabe, Capito. Brutal. Don't recall an event with so many eliminated on Day 1:LOL:
Will only be 32 left end of today Day2

Niels is the "sentimental favorite" to win. Was 2x runner up consecutively in this event about 10 years ago. Once lost hill hill to Karl Boyes and following year lost to Orcollo .

Eight ball on a nine-footer is so easy for the pros that it's a joke. Tell the nine/ten ball players that they can shoot the balls in any order they like, finishing with the money ball and see what the runout rate is.

To bring tactical warfare into eight ball, it needs to be played on the seven-footer.

The biggest joke of all, however, is that this tactically empty run-fest offers the biggest first prize of the year.

Happy for the players for this opportunity and wishing them all the best, but not too much entertainment value here.
Speaking from strictly an old and decrepit league 8 ball player's perspective here...

Seeing their patterns and how they handle clusters is educational and entertaining to me. I would also argue that there are many more league 8 ball players in the US than 9 ball players who might feel the same as me. Personally, I find 9 ball a bit brainless, but still love to watch the pros play that also.
