MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Euro players and the entire euro billiards community enjoy victory more than Americans especially when they're beating Americans. They are very spirited winners. We've become very pleasant losers.
We lost our hearts. No such thing as American pride.

Just look at our country.

These clowns don't care. It's another weekly tournament to them.

Can someone look up how much they are getting paid for this?

None? Even if you were right, who is going to replace them??
We need someone with heart and passion.

At the professional level the skill level between one another is very small. The difference is heart and personality.

These players have no heart.

You're from the USA? That surprises me. I also see you support HAMAS in some of your other posts. Member for a few months, 36 posts. Nothing sketchy about you--

I enjoy pulling for fellow Americans in international competitions though in this case would rather not in favor of Asia vs Europe. That would be really compelling as others have stated. I do hold out hope for a Fedor Gorst led USA team down the line with a clutch Sky Woodward in place beside him. Gonna need more than two good Mosconi players obviously but maybe a couple youngsters will emerge or maybe we can find a way to get the Ko brothers green cards, ha.

Gotta text Emily an idea of Mosconi Cup reform: players on both teams are selected on rankings, and when time to play comes, ten players blindly pick a jersey to play in :p
That way team USA might be composed of Filler and Shaw and alikes.

Why is anyone surprised? Here are match odds from Albin vs Tyler

No Americans have emerged. That's the root issue. We've had Shane since 2007 as the top gun, SOLO. No USA kid has come close to him since. The prior generation had Archer, Strickland, Corey, Rodney, Daulton, and several others right about that speed. Now we have Shane, and no one to replace him.

In Asia and Europe there is a Filler speed kid on the horizon every 3 years. And a hair below that speed every single year.

Call me crazy but the whole thing could have turned out differently if Shane doesn't dog that first 9 ball. Even piddly amateur events have this same dynamic -- little mistakes snowball quickly and the thing that snowballs the quickest is the pressure. While one side feels all the pressure building the other side is having the time of their lives. That's actually why I love amateur team events.

Anyway, we would have still been underdogs but 11-8 or 11-9 could have happened.

Losing Billy Thorpe to whatever psychological issues have plagued him has been a big problem for Team USA. He has the kind of personality that can be effective in a team setting.

At this point, the only real "team player" character for the Americans is Woodward and it shows.
