I agree Jay. I've always wondered if the Europeans having the federations helps them more. Having support to be able to train and compete has to help.
No slow rolling on that table.
I'd bet there will be no Poland representatives on that team
Filler played more matches and got more points I believe! Ouschan had abetter winning %, but that would count in a tie I think.
True, I think its cherry picking.
Not only Ouschan was undefeated but I think he missed the least amount of balls. I remember few balls that Filler had missed but cant remember if Ouschan actually missed anything, did he?
One thing Barry probably wouldn't like to say is that the primary reason for the European players being so competitive is not their will to travel abroad and play overseas, but a professional continental tour where they play each other about 6-7 times per year.
Filler lost both of his team games on Day 1, scored 3 points after that, and had 2 match losses.
Ouschan won both of his team games on Day 1, also scored 3 points after that, and had 0 losses.
Easy decision by the numbers. Weird.
Edit: I counted the points wrong, forgetting that doubles counts only a half point. Filler had 2.5, Ouschan had 2.

If you want to be the best, you have to play the best! Go wherever you have to go. Do whatever you have to do. It won't happen by staying home and playing the same guys, plus the Filipinos who dominate tournaments here.

team match doesn't count for mvp. doubles however are 0.5p and singles are 1p
All things being equal, MR will ever prefer to award a player with kind of a character and colorful personality (I suppose they don't see Albin as such in terms of winding Mosconi fans the way Joshua or Jayson do).
Filler had 2.5 points while Ouschan only had 2. But Filler played more matches overall.
They got their reputation back when the table did not fold with Team Europe and their kids jumping on the slate. Even Jayson alone would be quite a test for any table, let alone 6 adults

Mosconi Cup was brought up to emulate Ryder Cup. Okay, let's move the rant to golf then.
Regardless if it's USA vs The World or USA vs Philippines, it is still fair match because same number of players.
USA would have tough time. Vs only Poland, Germany, Spain or even Finland. Better keep it this way..
