Allison fisher, have you seen her play lately?

Archer is 55 now. Would be nice to see him play more often- I’m interested in whether he could get close to his prime form
Can’t happen. I think JA would have his hands full with Django right now (5 years older) or with Earl (7+ years older).

At this point of their careers, they could still beat anybody in any given match, but to mow down numerous top players to win a tournament against top competition can’t happen for anyone in their 50s and older.

The lone possible exception to that (in my opinion) would be Allison. She’ll need to do it in the next year or so, as her competition is still getting better whereas she’s trying to hang on.

It must be so frustrating for these players to have more knowledge of the game than they’ve ever had but just can’t execute as consistently as they used to.

*Efren is also an exception. Particularly in one pocket at his current age.

ralf souquet won the european 8-ball championship in 2022 when he was 54. beat mario in the final and i believe he beat filler earlier in the tournament.

bustie has won 4 or 5 DCC titles post 50 yrs. at least two banks, two one hole

lol you people have turned him into a god in your mind. No he couldn’t win a major at this point in his career. His time has passed like it does for everyone. Mother Nature always wins

Allison has been a top finisher, and has been eliminating top women from every tournament she has recently played in. I think she has another title in her. Recently, she has been adjusting to glasses during play. Also, she probably isnt putting in the ridiculous amount of hours practicing anymore. She spends more time with her family, including her mom, who just moved across the pond to live with allison. Allison also teaches many pool classes now (one of which i attended). She has more balance in her life now.

Its also very possible she may read this, so we should post accordingly. She has nothing to prove. She dominated this sport, and entertained the world with her skills for decades.

I imagine myself like an Allison. Staying in the career till old age.

Unless you own the business or your family controls the local government, most jobs are not worth working.

Its great Allison proved that women can have the pro athlete career and she fights for the pay to go with it.

This is a story that should be mainstream. Men are cheap, women create industry and succeed.

I also have issues with how cheap American pay is, makes other governments more attractive when they take care of their workers. Not just pay lip service or provide minimal hospitality.

When people get work done, on time payment is expected. Then problems start.

Yes, 1-pocket with Bustamante and Reyes are certainly exceptions to my statement, but not likely 9/10 ball.

Agree on all points, but I can tell you in the past 20+ years Allison has not put in the daily hours of practice time and playing in smaller tournaments compared to most of her top competitors.

Her fundamentals were and still are so solid and she was so dominant for so long compared to her competition, with the exception of Karen and Kelly, that Allison has always been able to maintain her high level of play with minimal practice time. She’d usually only go in to a serious daily practice routine a week or so before a major tournament.

Allison made the decision a long time ago to seek balance and happiness in other aspects of her life, away from her pool career.

Ralf has competed full-time for well over thirty years and his schedule today is as full as it was when he was a young man. Comparing that to Archer, who retired as a full-time competitor years ago doesn't make sense. The more comparable achievements to that of Ralf were Buddy Hall and Mike LeBron, both of whom won the US Open in their 50s.

Noone who watched the Bonus Ball revival event on ESPN would have concluded that Johnny is playing the kind of pool he did in his prime. Wish Johnny luck, but I think he's a longshot to produce a top three finish at Turning Stone. Of course, on this occasion, I'd love to be wrong.

Did I say that? I'm simply stating the FACT that he's won quite a bit well into his 50's and is still competing at a high level into his 60's. There's no denying that.

yes... it was a response to the statement that winning a competition can’t happen for anyone 50+. i have no clue on johnny, only heard of his financial troubles of late

Johnny posted on facebook that he’s mounting a comeback this year and wants a mosconi spot.
Hopefully, he has a more serious commitment towards achieving that goal than he has had in his recent business ventures.
