SIMONIS FUZZ

I just heard back from Alfred at Simonis. Turns out my cloth was from a defective roll (id’d from the serial number visible under black light), and they’re going to replace it at no charge. 👍
Same thing happened to me. Roll was from after flood and they skipped the 3rd stage of the processing, which resulted in the fuzzing.

Glad they sent you a replacement.

I don't think they should have ever let any bad stuff out of the factory. Better to have halted all sales until fixed completely. Simonis has had an impeccable reputation since at least the 1980's. Now everyone is worried if they are going to get the "good" or the "bad" batch.

ok thanks. I went out and bought a black lite and there is no numbers or leltters on the surface of the cloth. Does that mean I have a bootleg cloth that some ebay dealer is swindling people with?
The logo and serial number is fairly small (maybe 3" long and 5/8" tall), and is printed only every 3 ft or so, so there may be only 2-3 visible on the entire table. Still, in a darkened room with a UV flashlight, they should jump out at you.

That said, if you're sure there are none on your cloth, then either a) you don't have Simonis cloth (no surprise if a smaller ebay seller), or b) the installer put it on upside-down (which would explain having lots of fuzz).

I had my Simonis put on in July & it's fuzzy as hell, I actually thought it was put on upside down. Now I have to go find a UV-light.

Mine was put on in May and had a ton of fuzz and affected the way the balls rolled to an extent. I replaced it last month. Went with HR this time. The surface feels completely different. I believe I got a bad one last time. This one is good to go

Thanks, I install my own and others over the last 60 years and I never would install upside down! I'm gunna try the black light again tonight when its dark, since you said how small the numbers are,

Alright so now I'm feeling like mine may have a similar issue but to be honest this is my first pool table and I'm not exactly sure how it should look. I installed Simonis 860 last year and this is how it looks right now. I play around 5-10 hours per week. I don't brush the table, just vacuum it every week or so depending on how much I use it.

This is how it currently looks. I had to use a flashlight to show how it really looks since without it the cloth looks perfectly fine. Should it be this fuzzy? Thanks for your help!

No, it shouldn’t be that fuzzy. Lots of good info in this thread if you want to try to get them to send a free replacement. First step is UV light to confirm it’s Simonis, on right side up, and get the serial number.

Thanks. It is indeed original (I've checked with the UV light and there's a serial # on it). I guess I'll have to call Simonis to get this sorted out.

Yes, that’s the next step if you want to pursue it.
