Gold Crown 1 Sub Rail modification.

Yup, dead ringer. How’d you know?

Keep slinging the insults to show all what your level of intelligence is. If ya can’t debate ‘em, insult ‘em.

It's the sentiment, not the appearance.

The old rubber in the pics above still played decent but were definitely hardening. If you laid both over your index finger and let them hang you had to crack the old rails in a couple spots to hang as low as the new ones naturally hung down, but none the less very impressive for almost 50 year old rubber.

They really can be nice, it's gum rubber and very high quality. I have reused 9ft rubber on barboxes before
When I had my GCI rails modified and Artemis installed (I wish I had used Superspeeds, I think, but everyone was using Artemis at that time, then 6 months later Superspeeds were the cushion to use) Jeremy sent my Monarch Superspeeds back with my rails, they still feel like new.

I think it's just preference at best. I have a set of rails that Mark Gregory did with Artemis on an Anniversary, and they bank fantastic. I can hit twice across to my hole without any issue

Thats why I said I think I wished I had used Superspeeds. I have no complaints whatsoever with my Artemis cushions, people just like to say I should have used Superspeeds.

Does your MG modified table play closer to a factory Blue Diamond, or a factory GC in your opinion? I never played on one.

Josh Ebert at Club Billiards did my rails, he did a fantastic job and quick too, I think he had them less than 10 days. I spoke with Mark about mine but he was about 2 months behind at that time, I didnt want to wait that long. My table plays pretty much right on compared to Blue label 9' Diamonds in our neck of the woods, speed, multi rail kicks, banks, etc.

If you just want the dimensions then I'm confident Glenn (RKC) will throw you that number. I'm not overly familiar with Mark, but he was more than willing to rework my rails for me.

When I decided to rework my table and rails, Glenn was extremely helpful and the reason I avoided some pitfalls. He enjoys making puppets dance here on AZB and I guess the same usual suspects on FB.

I would not doubt his advice for a moment.

I updated my 1946 Centennial a couplr of years ago during covid. Went to the mechanics forum here and gained lots of info that helped greatly. One gent named Trent helped in may ways in me getting my table back into shape. The subrail deal was referred to by many and many said it wasn't that necessary when using the superspeed rails. Trent was the one I trusted on that and I went to work. Took my time and watched every youtube diy that was available to make the install of the rails. Watched the diy's that were from mechanics that did the work for a living and went from there. My table turned out great , banks fine and is fast. Had the table for over 20 years now and had many runs of over 100 balls. It plays better now that when ever I owned the beast. My 2 cents , follow the instructions and make sure that your rail rubber is straight across the top of your rails and the table will play fine. After removing the old rails I used a 24v obital sander to get the residue off and ensure flat fitting of the new rubber , along with that tip, have a rubber mallet handy to help set the rubber into the rail . Link below is the one I liked the best and followed.

Hope that helps
