2024 World Pool Championship

It appears that there will be three tables on matchroom.live for US viewers -- the TV table and two other. Starts on June 3rd at noon Eastern Time. The following days matches seem to start at 6AM Eastern.
I hope MR is not dumb enough again to put the slow ass players like Albin on the two side televised tables without commentary and without a time clock.

28 wildcards confirmed i.e.13 allocated for Saudi (increase from 10 originally) and 15 selected by Matchroom. Those 15 wildcards by Matchroom are quite weak only 2x800 Maciol and Wojciech and Pia Filler only woman in field plus few more from Middle East.
Still total 39 x800s/ 39 Fargo Top 50 makes this the strongest field ever of any event (y) Let's hope this turns out to be overwhelming and not underwhelming event

Ou Yeah!
My friend is sponsoring Makkonen and he told me he have a chance to wildcard!
Im so happy for Petri to get in!

I really wanted to see Mika get in but I also wondered what such a long trip and equally long event might do to his stamina and immune system.

Are the MR rankings based on a 2 year rolling list? I've checked their site and can't figure it out. I don't see the tournaments that FSR won in any list to keep him at the top for so long. Does anyone have a reliable list of whatever MR uses to determine the tour rankings?

Edit, I found the list. I had it before, but when I opened it on my computer, it was gibberish. I tried again using Acrobat Reader, and it shows everything clearly.

that's a lot of filipinos. i watched ignacio beat raga yesterday, ignacio looked better than i ever seen him. always had an impressive stroke.

only one chinese player is a bit weak. wouldn't mind seeing wu and zheng in the mix, rather than saudi dead money

Yeah, there's a lot of mainlanders who would do much better then Dang... but he's in the MR club

yea that's for sure. he's high in the rankings because he won the spanish open, which wu and zheng both played in (and did quite poor in). with higher attendance they would have better ranking than dang

🤔 nonsense of the complete and utter level. Heyball (and snooker) are much harder than American pool but if it were that easy they would be already turning up in droves and hitting the regulars out of the park. Dang has proven, in a very short window of time, that he has what it takes to win an elite Matchroom tournament. Most top players of the other cuesports know that they can do well but are also very much aware thay they will struggle to do so. This will change if prize money goes, and stays, up but it requires a lot more than just turning up.

how is it nonsense when we already know they had a higher fargo 2020 than dang has NOW? and before wu converted to heyball (because of covid bs), he entered the US open, beat everybody until the final where he narrowly lost to filler. before zheng converted to heyball he won the all japan championship. dang's win last year was "inspired" and very entertaining but his gameplay doesn't even compare to wu. he surely has the loosest cb of all MR major winners. i would be very surprised if he ever made another big time final.

I just saw places 97 to 128 pay $1000. Does anyone know what the entry fee is? That’s pretty nice to pay every contestant.

Here's the full draw. I believe this is the bracket order so you can figure out the groups. Two from each group of four advance.
Races to nine in the qualifiers. Races to 11 in the single elimination phase except the finals are to 15.

Some tough groups.

I think some countries pay entries and expenses for their players. In general there is a registration fee rather than an entry fee for the World Championships. Maybe someone could ask a player....

@Bob Jewett how are you getting it’s a round robin or 4 man brackets? I’m checking everywhere at the wntscores site and not seeing that. For as much bigger they are than everyone else, their sites are still missing basic information.

I looked at the matches on the match listing. It says where each player will go, winner and loser. It is irritating and tedious to go through that. I think I got it right. Win two straight and you advance to single elimination.

I think you have to have signed up to see this, but maybe not...

yea looks like their usual double elim down to L64. a bit too cutthroat with this field imo. but then again 3500$ for L64..
