2024 World Pool Championship

chua up 2-1 after a lucky return to the table. kaci missed a sitter when the first shot clock buzzer came, chua capitalized.

he's breathing different today for sure, really needs to compose himself

6-2, chua playing really well

and never threatened by the buzzer. his average shot time is a 8-10 sec faster than kacis

6-2 to Chua and 100% on making a ball off the break.

Speaking of shot clock, Chua seems really good at managing his rhythm and the shot clock. After thinking about the shot at hand, he frequently glances up at the shot clock, verifies that he has enough time, takes a few quick breaths, and gets down on the shot.

Edit: Earlier, the commentators were saying that Kaci would be more experienced with the shot clock, having played in the Mosconi Cup and more Matchroom events. I don't necessarily disagree -- Kaci just tends to use the full 30 seconds more often, and he doesn't seem to mind addressing the cue ball in sync with the buzzer.

The place is a ghost town at the World Pool Championship. Kaci v. Chua in the semifinals. Playing for a $50,000 swing between $50,000 for semifinals and $100,000 for runner-up and maybe $250,000 for the win. There is no audience. The majority of viewers are pool players.

I am not agreeing with Scott Frost on some shots. Oh well! I'm just a railbird.

I'm guessing next year MR will make further efforts to black out the spectator seats to avoid the bad optics

Kaci's stroke, he has a lot of room from his bridge hand to the cue ball. Long stroking it?

I feel the announcers were way too hard on Kaci in rack 10 after he passed on the three ball

that would have been a crazy tough shot , his safety ended up being ok, then later a stellar jump shot and he wins

I agree. I feel like Kaci made the right decision when he played safe, yet Scott et al. said he should have gone for it. No way, man!

is this his first match on the main table?
yes in earlier tournaments he has had two ways of dealing with the clock, shoot before the buzzer (usually at ~23 sec) or wait it down, pulling the trigger with 2 seconds left

6-4
